Abortion by pill “more horrible” than surgery

Lillian, age 24, had a surgical abortion two years before the interview. She describes her second abortion, which was by pill:

“And so this time, it was more horrible than the first time because this time I was older, so I was more aware of what it was to be a mother, and besides, the method was really… really hard, because it was a medication. There were 30 of us in a room smaller than this one, in a square, waiting like laying hens, waiting to lay our eggs, and it’s super painful because you have contractions, it’s really, really painful, so there you are in a room, all the girls hurting and rolling on the floor and all waiting to push out the egg, and the nurse who comes in and says: “OK, well, now go for it, you’re losing blood, put it in the pot.” And afterward, she looks in the pot and everything, and then, well, then it was really hard, because I actually saw it, and I felt it come down and I saw it, you know, unlike the first time, when I didn’t see anything.”

Women carried their dead babies home in picnic bags

Abortion is now legal in Ireland. But in the past, women had to travel to England to have abortions. Pro-choice author Judith Orr wrote:

“Doctors in Northern Ireland may recommend an abortion to women who discover that their foetus has a severe or fatal abnormality, but not actually offer one. In such cases, a woman’s pregnancy may be too far advanced for a medical termination with pills, so women are forced to travel to a strange city and clinic in Britain – often at a time of great grief at the prospect of losing a wanted pregnancy – and, until a change in government policy in 2017, pay many hundreds of pounds for an abortion. Couple sometimes want to bury the remains back home, or want a postmortem examination to find out the cause of a fatal foetal anomaly and have been known to be left with no alternative but to carry them back in a picnic cool bag.”

Post-abortion woman: I felt such loneliness

From Alexandra, who had an abortion in her first year of college:

“They told me it wouldn’t be painful and would be over quickly. They lied. It was extremely painful and I lie there [sic] for what seemed like an eternity. I remember the nurse holding my hand as the abortionist sucked my insides out. At least that’s how I remember it. Almost immediately, I felt such a sense of loneliness, even though I was surrounded by several people….

Afterwards, Greg was waiting for me. We left, without ever saying a word. In the car, he still wouldn’t talk or look at me… The rest of the day was somber and when night came, we laid in bed together, staring at the ceiling, still not speaking…

Greg took me back to school the next day and we both knew our relationship was over. We didn’t need to verbalize it….

Within a month of my abortion, I quit college.… Panic attacks, depression, fear and sexual problems became commonplace in my life. Thoughts of suicide plagued my mind constantly. I would envision myself driving off a cliff and ending it all…

Things got so bad that I sought out psychiatric help. The counselor never asked me if I’d had an abortion before. He didn’t feel the need to ask, I suppose… His cure was an antidepressant.”

The antidepressant didn’t help, and Alexandria eventually married but continued to have problems:

“I didn’t understand what was wrong with me. I had this great husband who adored me, two wonderful children. Why wasn’t I happy? Why couldn’t I be intimate with my husband? Am I crazy? No one could seem to help me…. Nothing seemed to help until one day in church, I noticed a “Sanctity of Human Life” brochure in the bulletin.

I went to the pastor’s wife and told her what I’d done. I said, “I had an abortion when I was 18 years old.” I was shocked by the words that were coming from my mouth. I hadn’t told anyone for 15 years! I was even more shocked that I became so emotional about it. I thought I was over it! I wasn’t even close… I went away and began to cry. I couldn’t stand up anymore. I fell to the floor and sobbed like a baby. I was angry that I couldn’t control myself. I thought, “Why is this bothering me?” “I thought I was over it.”

Some politicians support abortion to limit minorities

Pro-Life author Mary Meehan wrote:

“Many white voters believe abortion is a solution for the welfare problem and a way to slow the growth of the black population. I worked two years for a liberal, pro-life candidate who was appalled by the number of anti-black comments he found when discussing the issue. And Representative Robert Dorman of California, a conservative pro-life leader, once told his colleagues in the House, “I have heard many rock-ribbed Republicans brag about how fiscally conservative they are and then tell me that I was an idiot on the abortion issue.” When he asked why, said Dorman, they whispered, “Because we have to hold them down, we have to stop the population growth.” Dorman elaborated: “To them, population growth means Blacks, Puerto Ricans, or other Latinas,” or anyone who “should not be having more than a polite one or two “burdens on society.”

Former Planned Parenthood worker: Planned Parenthood only offered “limited’ care

Former Planned Parenthood worker Ramona Trevino says:

“As for healthcare, the services offered at Planned Parenthood are limited at best. It is not the same as visiting a gynecologist’s office. If women have any serious gynecological concerns, there isn’t much help available. If a woman is pregnant and doesn’t want an abortion, Planned Parenthood can’t help. If women have suspected fibroids, ovarian cysts, or PCOS, for example, there’s no help available.

There were countless times in which our advanced practice nurse suspected these types of gynecological problems but was unable to diagnose anything because our center was a non-abortion facility, so we had no ultrasound machine available. Those are only available at for women who are having abortions at abortion centers.”

Famous author Walker Piercy opposed abortion

Walker Piercy, doctor and well-known author, said:

“Any doctor can tell you that an unborn child is fully human. There is no difference between a child five minutes before birth and five minutes after birth. What about a month before birth? Same. How about eight months? How about one day after conception? Sure. It’s a separate organism. Any doctor will tell you that it’s all standard biology: the fetus is a separate genetic structure, a separate immune system… A separate creature.”

Planned Parenthood director says illegal abortionists used “good technique”

Planned Parenthood medical director Alan Guttmacher said, in 1960:

“Illegal medical abortionists operate in several different ways. Usually they are listed in the medical bluebook under disguised designations… They demand prepayment in cash… The technique of the well–accredited criminal abortionist is usually good. They have to be good to stay in business, since otherwise they would be extremely vulnerable to police action.

Most abortion clinics today also only accept payment in cash.

Pro-Abortion activist Judith Arcana: the child is irrelevant

An interviewer asked pro-abortion activist Judith Arcana whether or not showing pictures of starving children is a good tactic to argue for legalized abortion. (the idea is to convey that there are many starving children in the world and abortion would prevent that.)

Arcana replied:

“Surely the outcome of that approach is to make the case less woman-centered. Surely the child is really irrelevant to the issue.”

Abortionist on women’s reactions after abortion

Julius Fogel, abortionist and psychiatrist:

“There is no question about the emotional grief and mourning following an abortion… Many come in [to the office, even years later] – some are just mute, some hostile. Some burst into crying… There is no question in my mind we are disturbing a life process.”

Woman stopped outside clinic by sidewalk counselors speaks

Tina was on her way into a clinic to have an abortion, but while she was walking into the clinic, she was stopped by sidewalk counselors. She ignored them and entered the clinic, but as she lay on the abortion table, she thought about what they had said to her. She walked out and kept her baby. She says the following, on behalf of herself and the baby’s father:

“We’re very, very grateful for them saving our baby’s life and opening our eyes; and they’ve really helped us so much and changed our point of view. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have my baby. So if you guys can do this and help people, I think it would be great. I mean, they’ve helped me so much, and opened my eyes and opened my husband’s eyes and we are forever grateful.

Without them I would not have my baby. They opened my eyes and gave me this beautiful gift. God is just so wonderful and you guys are all so wonderful for doing this.”
