Unsupportive friend laughs at post-abortion woman

Often, when women feel grief or guilt after an abortion and want to mourn their unborn child, their grief is not understood or recognized by those close to them. For example, a book on post-abortion women and their testimonies said this:

“Julie, from Melbourne, said a friend told her not to be so ridiculous when she told of her plans to have a little burial service for the aborted baby in her backyard. “What you  about? It was your choice,” the friend admonished her.”

Melinda Tankard Reist Giving Sorrow Words: Women’s Stories of Grief after Abortion (Springfield, IL: Acorn Books, 2007) 24

Comments like this only add to the pain and alienation women feel when they are coming to terms with their abortions. Sadly, this is a trauma that society, for the most part, does not recognize.

Pregnant 17-year-old sees ultrasound of her baby, chooses life

Stephanie Monegro, a 17-year-old New Yorker, was two months pregnant and seeking an abortion. She went to a crisis pregnancy center by mistake.  The counselor showed her her baby on an ultrasound screen.

“She said I would always regret it. [abortion]. [Then] I saw my first sonogram of the baby, and I burst into tears. I thought: Why would I want to kill something that’s living?”

Woman having an abortion describes feeling her baby move

Month 5 – 20 weeks.
Month 5

One woman complained about the three days she had to wait between finding out her baby would be disabled and having the abortion she wanted  (She couldn’t schedule it for any earlier) :

“Maybe it gives you time to think about it – but at the time, you feel a baby, you become attached to the baby, and every time it moves it reminds you that you’re going to put an end to its life and it’s very hard to imagine taking more time. It really is.… You imagine your baby. This is your baby. Hard to think of it as a fetus – you say fetus, but you imagine a baby. It moves and you become attached to it. Every time it moved those three days, I said, “Please don’t move.”

Pro-choice politician is “heartsick” over law that would make abortion safer

Pro-choice  politician, Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple, D-Arlington, on a bill passed that would regulate abortion clinics:

“It is purely discriminatory. It makes me heartsick.”

Virginia passed legislation that would require clinics that provide first-trimester abortions to meet the same standards as other surgical facilities. The requirements could include anything from expensive structural changes like widening hallways (to allow stretchers to pass through) to increased training and mandatory medical equipment the clinics currently don’t have.

Now pro-life abortion worker describes lies other clinic workers told about pro-lifers

Former clinic worker Jewels Green told the following story:

“At the abortion clinic where I worked, I readily believed all of the misinformation fed to me about the “antis” holding those gory signs outside. I was told that pro-lifers cared nothing about women or families or children—only babies, and only unborn babies at that. I was told story after story about how this pro-life group or that crisis pregnancy center lied to women to “trick” them into staying pregnant and then would abandon them after the growing baby was beyond the legal limit for abortion. The most vivid (tall) tale I remember was of some unnamed group who extended financial assistance, prenatal care, and even drove a young mother to the hospital while she was in labor only to drop off a box of diapers the next day and refuse to return her calls after that….

This is pro-abortion propaganda.

Since coming over to the side of life, I have been thrilled to confirm that these stories are baseless lies. It is shocking to me that the pro-abortion side continues to propagate these blatant untruths in spite of real evidence to the contrary. The pro-life movement is peopled by honest, dedicated, generous, and often pious people. The pro-life movement includes individuals and families who adopt “unwanted” babies, “imperfect” babies, “disabled” babies and donate time, money, and energy to stopping abortion. …

Many crisis pregnancy centers don’t just do pregnancy tests but also offer relationship counseling, parenting workshops, family counseling, babysitting co-ops, post-abortion support, and much more—for FREE—and without hundreds of millions of dollars from American taxpayers.”

Pro-life convert Norma McCorvey on Roe vs. Wade and abortion

“I long for the day that justice will be done and the burden from all of these deaths will be removed from my shoulders. I want to do everything in my power to help women and their children.”

Former Clinic Worker: Merilida Aguilar

Following is Merilida’s testimony, from Bound4Life:

I was a former Planned Parenthood manager and abortion coordinator for the local clinic in Salinas. …

That Saturday, my coworker called me to go look at what she was seeing in a container the doctor had just left on the counter after he was done with an abortion procedure. With horror she kept repeating, “We are going to go to hell—Meri, come and see what is in here!”

8 week old unborn baby

I turned and started walking towards her, wondering what she was talking about. When I got closer to look inside, to my disbelief I saw tiny little arms with the hands attached intact. I could see the tiny fingers and legs with tiny feet and toes floating in blood and solution. We just stood there without saying a word.

…. After that day, things changed and I was not able to continue to do what I was doing. I finally knew for certain that abortions were never performed on a blob of tissue, as they want the world to believe, but a real person. This baby was 12 weeks old before he/she was murdered. I did not last long after that and soon I was fired. The number of abortions being scheduled were not growing, but declining at the center I was working.”

Facts on the Abortion Pill: What you need to know Before you choose

This video gives some info on the abortion pill. It is a dramatization of a conversation between a womans seeking the pill and her doctor.

Know what to expect! Read first hand accounts of women who took the abortion pill here.

For information on the pill’s medical risks, go here.  and here.

Fetal Development (how developed the embryo is)

Day 1: Sperm joins with ovum, to form one cell smaller than a grain of salt. The new life has inherited 23 chromosomes from each parent, 46 in all. This one cell contains the complex genetic blueprint for every detail of human development – the child’s sex, hair and eye color, height, skin tone

Days 3 – 4: The fertilized egg travels down the fallopian tube into the uterus, where the lining has been prepared for implantation

Days 5 – 9: During this time, the fertilized egg implants itself in the rich lining of the uterus and begins to draw nourishment.

Days 10 – 14: The developing embryo signals its presence through placental chemicals and hormones, preventing the mother from menstruating

Day 20: Foundations of the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system are already established

Day 21: The heart begins to beat

Day 28: The back bone and muscles are forming. Arms, legs, eyes and ears have begun to show.

Day 30: At 1 month old, the embryo is 10,000 times larger than the original fertilized egg – and developing rapidly. The heart is pumping increasing quantities of blood through the circulatory system. The placenta forms a unique barrier that keeps the mother’s blood separate while allowing food and oxygen to pass through to the embryo.

Day 35:5 Fingers can be discerned on the hand. The eyes darken as pigment is produced.

Day 40: Brain waves can be detected and recorded

Week 6: The liver is now taking over the production of blood cells, and the brain begins to control movement of muscles and organs. The mother is about to miss her 2nd period and has probably confirmed that she is pregnant.

Week 7: The embryo begins to move spontaneously. The jaw forms, including teeth buds in the gums. Soon the eyelids will seal to protect the embryo’s developing light-sensitive eyes, and will reopen at about the 7th month

If you are not sure whether or not to have an abortion, there are organizations that can help you. Birthright is a nonpolitical, nonpartisan organization that can help you find alternatives. They will not try to pressure you into making any kind of decision. CareNet is another group of pregnancy centers. These organizations may be able to help with things such as finding affordable prenatal care, finding a place to live if you are dealing with homelessness, on-site day care, job training, free baby items, free counseling and support groups, etc. Many of the centers offer free ultrasounds, whereas an abortion clinic or Planned Parenthood will charge you for an ultrasound. Since an ultrasound is recommended before a chemical (pill) abortion, you can save some money and safeguard your health. Some abortion clinics will give the pills without a sonogram – you should be aware that this presents a risk to your health. An ultrasound/sonogram is the only way to prove that the embryo is not implanted in the fallopian tube. If it is implanted there, surgery is necessary to remove an embryo in the fallopian tube or the tube may rupture, causing internal hemorrhaging and possibly death. In fact, several women have died after having abortion procedures which cleared out the womb but did not remove the fetus/embryo from the fallopian tube. The women thought they were no longer pregnant, but the fallopian tube ruptured leading to their deaths. You can find their stories in this section, which documents deaths from legal abortion..

14 women, in the US alone,  have died from infections after taking the abortion pill. Holly Patterson was one of them.

Also, read about the psychological risks of abortion here. This page summarizes recent research about this.

All the information on this page is provided not to convince you to make a certain decision, but because a woman like you has a right to know exactly what is going on in her own body. Women should not be kept in the dark about potential complications of abortion or the development of the embryo/fetus. Knowledge is power, and it is better to know these facts before you choose.

Documenting botched abortion in April 2014 at Carhart’s abortion clinic

Saysumthn’s Blog documented an abortion injury on April 28, 2014. Dr. Leroy Carhart  was the one who performed the abortion.

From the blog:

carhart-04262014-captionedAccording to pro-life activists who were at the clinic at the time of Saturday’s incident, the injured patient was a woman who had come to Carhart’s poorly-maintained abortion clinic the previous day on Friday with her teen-aged daughter.

On Friday, the two women stayed at Carhart’s abortion office for about three hours, then left with the older woman driving.

The following morning, the two women were seen returning to Carhart’s facility. At about 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, the ambulance arrived for the older woman. According to witnesses, the daughter ran out of the clinic and told pro-life activists, “That’s my mom,” referring to the woman who was being transported.

“The events reported by witnesses are indicative of a botched early second trimester abortion procedure,” said Newman.

Carhart has carried no hospital privileges whatsoever since 1982. A lack of hospital privileges has been shown to interrupt the continuity of patient care and create delays in emergency treatment of women suffering life-threatening abortion complications.

Dates of other incidents involving Carhart documented by Operation Rescue include:

• March 4, 2014, Germantown, MD: Patient hemorrhaged after 2nd trimester abortion complications.
• November 30, 2013, Bellevue, NE: Patient suffered 2nd trimester abortion complications.
• November 26, 2013, Germantown, MD: Patient required emergency surgery. (Video with 911 recording)
• July 9, 2013, Germantown, MD: Patient hemorrhaged. (Video with 911 recording)
• February 7, 2013, Germantown, MD: Patient Jennifer Morbelli died of 3rd trimester abortion complications. (Autopsy Report)
• March 31, 2012, Bellevue, NE: Patient heard moaning and screaming during 911 call (Video with 911 recording.)
