A Preferred Women’s Health Center Yelp Review

One abortion clinic, A Preferred Women’s Health Center in Raleigh, NC 27606, gets a bad review on Yelp:

The website looked wonderful, and makes one feel that even though the decision is a hard one, you can go in and get it done. Until you show up there. Downright grungy. The staff is cold, unemotional, unresponsive to the emotional feelings of the women who are going there. I was given an appointment to be there at 9am, it took until 10:15am for all the work to be completed, confirm the pregnancy and decide which option I wanted to take – surgery vs the pill. I was then told the dr was not in, will be there at 11am so I could either leave or wait. Chose to leave, and returned at 11am. Was told the dr was still not in. At 11:35am, my husband went to ask if the dr was in, was told he was, and I was asked to come in and wait in the hallway. Sat there for over 30 mins while waiting nurses discuss some guy inheriting boat loads of money and how they would like to be a bitch to this guy. When asked how long it would take, was told the dr was reviewing my chart but no update after that. Finally, around 12:15pm, was given the shots and cleared to leave. The nurse administering the shots was preparing the bandaids to be applied by opening the wrapper and then attaching the sticky side on to the counter, which was then put on to my skin after the shot ( in hind sight, I should have said something but was too traumatized then). At the end of the shots, she wished me, in a very happy tone ” have a great rest of the week”. Umm…excuse me – I just made the most difficult decision of my life, and you just have me a shot that I had authorized, and you can see I am crying…and you are still wishing me a great day???

The staff was dismal. Obviously the HIPAA law does not matter to this clinic. All the patients are made to sit in this row of chairs in the hallway, with others sitting there. Staff will sit next to you and ask questions that they fill out, in normal tones so that everyone else sitting there can hear – I knew the women sitting next to me were 9 weeks, 7 weeks pregnant, whether they had STDs or not, when their last periods were and other details like that. There was one woman who was being asked the questions by the ultrasound tech, and she said ” I am so scared”. The ultrasound tech, in a very dismissive tone, told her ” you will be all right” and continued right on with the questions. The tone was not soft, complete apathy was displayed with some brusqueness.

During the ultrasound, I was asked to “drop your underwear and pants and lie down”. There was no wrap to put over me. I have never been examined in such a manner, where I was made to feel so degraded and humiliated….

So I called the main line and spoke to a “director” there and expressed my concerns. She sounded suitably shocked at the information and said she would get back to me on this. And, that was it. I had two weeks to wait before I went back and never heard back. Just a simple ” I have shared your feedback with my boss/owners and we are sorry” would have been great, but nothing. I called and left two messages – nothing.

Called another abortion clinic to see if they would do a follow up check up, and they said they could not due to their rules. So, went back in there. Thought things were a little better. Staff was silent this time, no loud talks. I was actually given a sheet this time to cover myself up this tie for the vaginal ultrasound. The technician was a little rough with the ultrasound stick, but I lived through it. She cleared me, and I left. Will never return.

I request EVERYONE considering going there to rethink this. DO your research, check out the staff before deciding to use them.

Fire Department shuts down abortion clinic

“The local fire department shut down the clinic on December 27, 2012, one day after discovering conditions “dangerous to human life or the public welfare.” An inspection revealed for example, “blood dripping from a sink p – trap in a room used by patients.”

Woman saw “blood all over” in abortion clinic

In 2009 a Michigan woman was rushed to the hospital to stop uncontrolled bleeding six months after her abortion. “If my boyfriend hadn’t woken me up that night, I just feel like I could’ve bled to death in my sleep,” said the woman, who was given two units of blood and an emergency D&C. The woman recalled “being in a lot of pain” during the abortion procedure and said she visited the clinic’s bathroom after the abortion, where she saw “blood all over the restroom, including on the toilet seat.”

Abortion clinics were “decrepit” and “dilapidated”

“My first day on the job, a staff member took me on a driving tour of our seven clinics, which primarily served low income women. I was highly impressed by the quality of the medical services and staff but distressed by the environment in which those services were delivered. Many of the clinics were dilapidated. The furniture was decrepit. The medical staff wore T–shirts and jeans. I worried that women coming into these clinics might feel as though they were not deserving of medical settings comparable to those more prosperous women would expect. I made the same point to our board in their next meeting.

“We should not provide medical services in these settings, and the fact that we serve mostly poor women does not justify the conditions of these clinics. It’s an insult to poor women to strive for anything less than what other women would expect.”

Kate Michelman Protecting the Right to Choose (New York: Plume, 2007) 33

One would question, if the clinic were “dilapidated” and “decrepit” if the medical care given was really “impressive?”

Abortion doctor is sued for lying to abortion patient who changed her mind

A lawsuit against abortionist Martin Ruddock has been filed by a woman identified only as SS. This is what the lawsuit says:

In her suit filed in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Please, S.S maintained that on the first day of what was to be a three-day abortion procedure at Ruddock’s Center for Women’s Health, she was told to sign six informed consent forms before she ever saw Ruddock. This was in direct violation of Ohio law that mandates that a physician must meet with a patient at least 24 hours prior to an abortion in order to provide the patient with certain disclosures about the abortion procedure.

She was then told that on the first and second days of the procedure, Ruddock would insert dilators, known as laminaria, into her cervix and that the abortion would be completed on the third day.

However, instead of waiting 24 hours after consent was given, as required by law, Ruddock began the abortion that same day by inserting three laminaria sticks into the patient’s cervix.

S.S. found this process extremely painful and caused her to have second thoughts about the abortion. She asked Ruddock to stop the abortion.

However, Ruddock refused. He wrongly told her that it was too late for him to stop. He indicated that it not possible for her to withdraw her consent once the procedure began. He also told her that her water had already broken and that if she stopped the abortion, her baby would be born mentally retarded.

Because of this, S.S allowed him to continue inserting the laminaria, a process described in legal papers as “painful and frightening.”

What S.S. did next literally saved her child’s life.

Instead of returning to Ruddock the next day, she went to another doctor who successfully removed the laminaria.

Imagine her surprise when the legitimate doctor informed her that her water indeed had not broken! What Ruddock told her to coerce her into continuing the procedure was simply not true.

The case has gone through 3 Different Court rulings, several of them reversing the ones before. To find out more about the suit, go here.

Also, the abortionist in this case has botched a number of abortions on women. To find out more, go here.

Former clinic worker alleges that late term abortionist took drugs

From a former clinic worker who worked with the late Dr. George Tiller:

“Tiller often told me that he had been an IV drug abuser, and that he had been through drug/alcohol rehab treatment twice. Tiller kept cases and cases of samples of a potent pain killer prescription drug, in all the closets and storage areas of the clinic. I frequently saw Tiller ingesting these pills, which he told me were for chronic back pain. No record was kept of the receipt of dispensing of these drugs.”

Luhra Tivis swore this in court under penalty of perjury.

Allegedly, clinic workers held woman down and did abortion against her will

The blog JivinJehosaphat quotes from an article on ABC (now unavailable) about a young woman who claims she was forcibly held down and forced to have an abortion after she changed her mind,

The information comes from Caitlin Bruce’s lawsuit against abortionist Abraham Alberto Hodari. (who years later lost his licence for malpractice) She was 18 years old and 6 weeks pregnant when she went for her abortion.

From the article:

“I was nervous and I really didn’t have the moral support I needed. And I just didn’t know what to do,” Bruce said.

Bruce says she wrestled with her decision in the waiting room.

“They started the ultrasound. The lady turned the ultrasound toward me and said, ‘This is your baby. This is the heart flicker,'” Bruce said.

Bruce says that’s when she changed her mind. But she claims Dr. Abraham Hodari did the procedure anyway.

“He told his assistant, ‘Hold her down.’ They had my arm pinned,” Bruce said….

“My client acted properly under the circumstance. This was an abortion that was consented to,” said Steve Weiss, Hodari’s attorney.

“When the patient first expressed misgivings about it, it was too far along for Dr. Hodari to stop.”
