Clinic worker gives reasons women have second trimester abortions

The article “Inside the abortion clinic” on why late term abortions are done

Most [patients] awaited first-trimester abortions (a simple suction procedure performed in the first three months of pregnancy).

But every week, the clinic serves at least a few women who are deep into their second trimesters, which necessitates a more-complex procedure performed up to the end of the sixth month—California’s legal limit of 24 weeks.

According to clinic staff, women who wait past the first three

months of pregnancy do so for countless reasons, some of them tragic, such as when a wanted pregnancy develops some fatal abnormality.

Other women can’t decide whether to risk parenthood as teenagers; have partners who discourage abortion; didn’t know they were pregnant (extreme athleticism can disrupt normal menstruation); have partners who die or leave; have a condition in which pregnancy dangerously affects their health; can’t handle the financial burden; are in denial; or postpone their decisions because of drug addiction.

Sometimes, women seek abortions because they only want boys, and they’re pregnant with girls.

“It’s different every day,” said [clnic worker] Britta.

….

In a year, the clinic handles between 2,000 and 3,000 first-trimester abortions, estimated Britta, and anywhere from 500 to 800 second-trimester abortions.

Pro-Life club gets in trouble with University for changing people’s minds

An article describes why a pro-life group got in trouble at Aukland University:

Auckland University Student Association president Arena Williams has called for a special general meeting next month, which could see ProLife Auckland being barred from associating itself with the university.

“”Recently we’ve received complaints from students after [ProLife Auckland] handed out fliers at the campus.

On the fliers there was information which some felt was pressuring them into making different decisions than they normally would.”

16 year old girl turns away from abortion because of pro-lifers

While I don’t agree with the angry things the demonstrators said in this story, I am sharing it because it shows how prolifers can make a difference.

June 16, 2003 (day after Fathers Day): I took a pregnancy test and found out that I was pregnant! How could that be? I was only 16 and my boyfriend and I had only been together for 9 months and had just recently started having sex! We were always careful! ALWAYS!! I didn’t know much about abortions (except that it was the easy way out … so I had heard) so that was my first instinct … don’t tell mom and dad, just get my boyfriend to take me to the clinic and then forget all about it. So I called and made the appointment … two weeks away! I started doing some research on abortion. Wow … a lot of pros and cons! I took the negative things of abortion lightly and figured what the heck! I have many more years to come to have a baby … I sure didn’t want one now!!

I had scheduled the appointment on a Saturday so I wouldn’t have to miss school. At 10:30 that saturday morning, July 5, we left and went to the clinic. There were about 20 people standing outside the building with signs and screaming something. We parked and got out … walked up the sidewalk … that’s when i read the signs, “ABORTION IS MURDER” and “YOUR GOING TO HELL” and heard the protesters screaming, “YOU’RE A MURDERER” and “HOW COULD YOU DO THIS … THERE IS A HUMAN BEING INSIDE YOU … HOW COULD KILL SOMETHING SO PRECIOUS”!!! And then it hit me, I can’t possibly do this. I just can’t do it! So i walked in the door to tell them to cancel my appointment. My boyfriend just looked at me! I could see the tears in his eyes. We hugged and he whispered to me everything is going to be alright now. We walked out of there crying. A lady walked up from the group of protestors and said to me “You made the right decision, this is why we stand here every saturday morning.” I hugged her and thanked her.

When we got back into the car i told my boyfriend that I couldn’t believe I was going to actually go through with the abortion. How could i do that? I hated myself for thinking this was what I had wanted to do … I hated that I almost went into that clinic and killed this baby … this precious gift that God had blessed me with. It was obviously meant for me to have this baby! I am thankful that those protesters were standing outside that clinic on that Saturday, or I would have lost my baby that day!

Now i have an 11-month-old little girl and I thank God for her every day. And you know what … just like my boyfriend told me … everything is alright now. I am sending this because I want every girl out there that reads this and is thinking about having an abortion … God sent you that baby for a reason and you may not know what the reason is now … you will! PLEASE PLEASE think long and hard about your decision of aborting that baby!

dead fetus (baby) seen after abortion

From an abortion patient who saw her dead fetus after her abortion:

“…four days after the abortion- I went to the washroom and there was a fetus, and I thoroughly examined it. I held it on a piece of Kleenex. I kept saying to myself, ‘Don’t do that, you are hurting it,’ even though it was dead already. I started thinking that it could have been a person it could have possibly been loved by somebody else who could have taken care of it. I thought as if it was almost still alive. That really shocked me. For about a week I had it wrapped up in that Kleenex and in the cabinet underneath the sink. I couldn’t bring myself to throw it in the garbage or do anything like that. And then every time I came into the washroom I knew it would be in there and I wouldn’t dare open the door of the cabinet. After about a week I worked up enough nerve to take another look at it. But by this time it was all sticking to the Kleenex and I just didn’t want to start tearing it apart. So I ended up putting it in the garbage. It sounds so horrible saying it that way. It really affected me.”

The dead fetus probably was the same age as the one below. Most abortions take place around this time, 7-10 weeks.

Man regrets partner’s abortion 11 years later

Married father of 2, with his wife’s agreement, aborted her 3rd child:

“Hardly a day goes by that I don’t shudder and almost weep again for the murder I helped to bring about. Quite often I even wake up in the morning thinking painfully of the undeniably selfish act I did over 11 years ago – STILL! I know I overrode in my core being my conscience (dulled at the time) and my Fatherhood instinct. No two ways about it: I acted – no, I was a coward. My action, despite my confession and repentance before my Creator – continues to rob much of the joy from my life.”

Margaret Sanger gives abortion instructions

Did Margaret Sanger endorse abortion? Brian E Fisher, in his book Abortion: The Ultimate Exploitation of Women. posits that Sanger supported abortion but toned down her rhetoric later in her life when colleagues convinced her that supporting abortion would hurt her cause for birth control.

An example of a place where Margaret Sanger endorsed abortion:

“When once one has been convinced that an abortion is necessary, do not indulge in medicines of any kind. They only weaken the system, and require a much greater length of time to recuperate. Never allow a pregnancy to run over a month. If you are going to have an abortion, make up your mind to do it in the first stages, and have it done.”

Woman saw “blood all over” in abortion clinic

In 2009 a Michigan woman was rushed to the hospital to stop uncontrolled bleeding six months after her abortion. “If my boyfriend hadn’t woken me up that night, I just feel like I could’ve bled to death in my sleep,” said the woman, who was given two units of blood and an emergency D&C. The woman recalled “being in a lot of pain” during the abortion procedure and said she visited the clinic’s bathroom after the abortion, where she saw “blood all over the restroom, including on the toilet seat.”
