Children who deliver teddy bears are “exploited”; aborting children is fine

Senator Shirley Smith, on a visit from children bearing gifts of teddy bears to Senators in order to promote the heartbeat bill: (The children were sent into the offices of proabortion Senators with little teddy bears and a brief message asking them to vote to restrict abortion after the heartbeat can be detected)

“I’m not at all supportive of the bill, and I’m not supportive of them sending kids in my office with a teddy bear that mimics a heartbeat, either. I thought that was a very cheap exploitation of kids.”

Laura Bassett, “Antiabortion Group Sends Children with Teddy Bears to Lobby Lawmakers,” Huffington Post, January 12, 2012

From Kellie Copeland, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio:

“I think a lot of our folks looked at the flowers and other things as stunts. I think that was how it was received in a lot of the Senate offices as well. The one that got a little different reaction was when they had the children come and lobby and deliver the teddy bears. One of the Senate staffers told me that it kind of disturbed them because some of the kids were quite young. Their family walked them to the door of the Senate office, but didn’t go in with them. She told me that the kids that walked into her office looked pretty scared and intimidated. So I think that was received with a little more concern, how the kids may have been exploited.”

Robin Marty, Jessica Mason Pieklo Crow After Roe (Brooklyn, New York: ig Publishing, 2013) 43 – 44

So a child being sent into an office for a few minutes while his parents wait outside his exploitation, but abortion, which actually kills children, is perfectly okay? What about this child: he was legally killed by an abortion in the first trimester. Was he not “exploited” and mistreated?

Or this one, aborted at 21 weeks:

NARAL Pro-Choice argues for keeping 21 week abortions legal. According to them, it is perfectly all right to abort these babies – but not to send children into a senator’s office with a gift of a teddy bear

Saving baby girls targeted for abortion leads to “oppression of women”

Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada’s (ARCC) Facebook page, posting an article, on their support of sex selection abortion:

“Lessons from India: Here’s an excellent article that explains in detail how the war against sex selection abortion in India contributes to the further oppression of women in many ways. ….

The right of women to do what they feel is best for them in the circumstances they find themselves is sacrificed at the altar of making empty ‘pro-girl’ gestures. …If you are pro-choice, then you cannot start limiting someone else’s choice because it makes you feel uncomfortable.”

So it is perfectly okay for a woman to have an abortion, often an abortion she is pressured into, solely because her baby is a girl. In fact, preventing baby girls for being aborted because they are girls is “oppression of women.”  This is like bizarro world, where everything is backwards – where preventing sex discrimination is a form of sex discrimination in itself, and killing girls for being girls is somehow pro-woman.

Proabortion attorney complains about ultrasound law

A proabortion attorney said the following about a law requiring a sonogram to be performed before abortions. The law would also allow a woman to see the sonogram image if she chose

“It’s really about chipping away at the various ways in which abortion care can happen in an effort to make it impossible for women to obtain it.”

Michelle Movahed attorney for the Center for Reproductive Rights, which sued to block the state’s ultrasound law

Robin Marty, Jessica Mason Pieklo Crow After Roe (Brooklyn, New York: ig Publishing, 2013) 91

This completely ignores the fact that ultrasounds are already a routine part of abortion care.

The only way to truly, accurately date a pregnancy is through ultrasound; ultrasound is also needed because an ectopic pregnancy must be ruled out before an abortion is performed. Even if ultrasounds were not a part of routine abortion care, how would requiring one “make it impossible” for women to have an abortion?

The only consequences this law would have would be to make abortion safer and to offer women a chance to get more information about the baby they are about to destroy.

The goal of the law is to change minds and hearts by giving the woman more information about her own body.

Is it better for her to be exposed to ultrasound pictures (from a friend/family member’s pregnancy or her own future pregnancy) after she has the abortion, when it is too late for her to change her mind?

Carl Sagan speaks out on abortion, sperm and eggs

“Why isn’t it murder to destroy a sperm or egg?”

Carl Sagan

Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan, “Is It Possible to Be Pro-Life and Pro-Choice?” Parade, April 22, 1990, 4

Carl Sagan may be a scientist, but he is obviously not a geneticist or embryologist. Science teaches that life begins at conception – when the DNA from the mother and the father combined to form a unique, genetically distinct organism, which is a human being in an early stage of development.

Read quotes from medical textbooks affirming that life begins at conception here

Also, abortion kills an embryo or fetus, not a sperm or egg cell. By just 21 days after conception, the developing baby has a heartbeat. Very few abortions are done before this time.

Abortion brings a woman into “deeper communion” with God, says prochoicer

A Christian pro-choice activist said the following:

This is a picture of what abortion looks like at nine weeks
This is a picture of a foot left behind after an abortion at nine weeks

“More than anything else, being able to choose and being affirmed in that choice gives a woman peace. Knowing that God is with her in the abortion decision and that the church upholds her moral authority to make the decision brings a woman into deeper communion with the One from whom all life springs. It becomes a part of that list of things that cannot separate us from the love of God.”

Bunnie Riebel, Founding Director, Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights, Southern California

Anne Eggebroten, ed Abortion: My Choice, God’s Grace (Pasadena, California: New Paradigm Books, 1994) X I I

The Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights is active in supporting legalized abortion. It is an organization made up of religious leaders and lay people who oppose pro-lifers trying to protect unborn babies.

The canary in the mine; we are losing, says abortion provider

“This is the canary in the mine…. I mean, we’re clearly losing. There is no question, we’re losing.”

Diane Derzis is president of the Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the only abortion provider in the state of Mississippi. She is discussing the clinic regulations that are threatening to shut down her abortion business.

Fewer abortion clinics mean more babies like the one below surviving instead of being brutally killed.

Pro-choice supporter: unwanted children are a drain on tax money, abortion cheaper

When legislators were first discussing legalizing abortion, one of their motives was the elimination of poor children who were drain on the economy.

According to one congressman supporter of abortion becoming legal in North Carolina (prior to Roe V Wade):

“Unwanted children are a large drain on tax money. In contrast, an abortion earlier than the 12th week of pregnancy costs only about $25.”

Clinic worker “my heart breaks” because some women can’t kill their children

The Abortioneers is a blog written by abortion clinic workers. One clinic worker discusses what happens when women miss their abortion appointments because of natural disasters:

“When Hurricane Katrina hit I was working in the South at an abortion clinic. I remember hearing stories through our networks of women desperately trying to find an abortion clinic after they were evacuated because the hurricane caused them to miss their appointment. … At my clinic when there were a few times we were forced to close due to circumstances beyond our control, we would “freeze” the fee for women so that they did not have to pay the extra money it would cost them to wait a week. That is one thing clinics can do, but what about women who have reached the limit of what is legal in their state? What happens to them? My heart breaks for any woman who tried to get an abortion this past weekend and will now have to carry to term. I wonder if they see this Hurricane as a sign that they were not meant to abort?… I am exhausted and sad just thinking about it.”

“Hurricane Weather Report” The Abortioneers Aug 31, 2011

This clinic worker is “exhausted” and “sad” at the thought that some women might decide to keep their children instead of aborting them. Her heart breaks that babies like the one below might be allowed to live and grow up rather than being torn apart by abortion clinic instruments.

Thank you to Secular Pro-Life, and Eleanor S.  who wrote an article on this quote.

Pro-choice politicians in Virginia horrified by fetal models

Pro-choice politicians in Virginia were up in arms after Republican delegate Richard Black mailed models of unborn babies like the one below to them. A paper was included in the mailing that said “This is the size and shape of an actual first-trimester baby. Abortionists kill most babies at this stage of development.” According to the article in The Virginian – Pilot:fetal model

Senate Minority Leader Richard Saslaw of Fairfax County said [it] was one of the most inappropriate things he has seen in his 23 years in the Senate.

“Quite frankly, the people who saw this were pretty repulsed by it,” he said.

It’s not surprising that pro-choice politicians, whose decisions condemned thousands of unborn babies to a violent death every year, were “repulsed” at seeing a depiction of an unborn baby. Another lawmaker, Sen. Leslie Byrne, D-Fairfax County, said:

“It shocked me …It hurts the decorum of the General Assembly”

JUSTIN BERGMAN  “Republican sends Senate members plastic fetus doll” Virginian-Pilot 2/5/2003

Actually, I was unable to determine which fetal model was distributed. It may have been the one above, or it may have been a slightly different one. But the article makes it clear that pro-choicers are horrified when confronted with the reality that they support killing babies. You can see more fetal models or purchase them here.
