How to make $30,000 a year working one day a week

Dr. David Aberman said that moonlighting one day a week at an abortion clinic he was able to make $30,000 a year.

Pamela Zekman and Pamela Warrick “The Abortion Profiteers” Chicago Sun-Times November 12, 1978

This quote was from 1978 – abortions now cost 4 times the amount they cost then, and doctors pocket a great deal more money.

Financial motives play a role, abortion clinics not “charitable organizations”

An author whose father was an abortion provider did research on abortion clinics and said the following:

“But the opponents’ claim that financial motives played a part in fueling the [abortion] clinics’ rise is not entirely unfounded. They were not, after all, charitable organizations. The founders of the Erie Medical Center, Moshe Hachamanovitch  and Gerald Crossman, were out-of-town physicians from, respectively, New Rochelle, New York, and Greenwich, Connecticut. “They believed in it, but their motivations were monetary,” says Marilyn Buckham, who began working at the Erie Medical Center in 1972 as a receptionist.”

He also quoted Ellen Alt, a nurse who worked at an abortion clinic:

“….my sense is that many of the doctors were doing this to make money while their practices were growing. This was a check they knew they were going to get.”

Eyal Press “Absolute Convictions: My Father, a City, and the Conflict that Divided America” (New York: Henry Holt & company, 2006) 63

Abortion clinics are definitely not charitable organizations, they exist to make money, and the money that doctors and clinic owners make a substantial. Read more quotes about the financial motives of abortionists’ here.

Abortionists refuse to abort poor women, study says

One study showed that:

One of the most common reasons why abortionists either refuse to perform an abortion or refer the patient elsewhere is her lack of money (the other is age)

“Obstetricians were least likely to become involved in the care of women described as having “no money” or “on Medicaid.”

Paul Sachdev “Perspectives on Abortion” (Metuchen, NJ: The Scarecrow Press, 1985) p 215. Essay entitled “Physicians, Hospitals and Abortion: The Influence of Attitudes in Medical Practice” by Constance A. Nathanson

This shows that money is a big factor in determining who will have abortions and who will not – abortion clinics do not do abortions for free. Abortion is a business. Like any other business, abortion clinics’ goal is to make money.

Chicago abortionist on sales tactics

From the owner of an abortion clinic:

“We have to sell abortions. We have to use all the tactics we can because just like my other businesses [a trucking firm, a pollution control business, and a real estate sales office] we have competition. Now, we have to go by the rules, but rules have to be broken if we are gonna get things done.”

Carol Everett Describes Abortion Counseling

From former clinic worker and clinic director Carol Everett:

“It was always difficult to find and train telemarketers who could call themselves “counselors” while selling abortions.

“We’re helping women,” I had to remind them constantly. Those who didn’t buy my pitch quickly left.

I started to believe my own rhetoric. I had to be convincing in order to persuade my telephone counselors, but each time I met with Chuck, I was quickly snapped back to reality. We were in the business of making money, a lot of it.”

Carol Everett with Jack Shaw, Blood Money (Oregon: Multnomah Press Books, Questar Publishers, Inc., 1992) Quoted in Rachel M MacNair, PhD. Achieving Peace in the Abortion War (New York: iUniverse, 2009) 54

Anesthesiologist At Clinic Comments on Money

10 weeks

Anesthesiologist at an abortion clinic:

“When I came here, in 150 hours I made $11,000. I never saw so much money in my whole life, and at that time he didn’t have to do many cases to make that money, so didn’t wear you out.”

Magda Denes, PhD. In Necessity and Sorrow: Life and Death in an Abortion Hospital (New York: Basic Books inc 1976) 231

This quote was from 1976. Abortion today is even more lucrative.

Doctor’s Deception Puts Woman in Danger

Dr. Bernard Nathanson described how patient care was compromised in the abortion clinic he ran because physicians were seeking more money. Doctors were being paid based on the number of abortions they performed and:

“The pay system inspired incredible situations. Walden [one of the abortionists] told me that when he first started, the practice was that a “senior” doctor with more experience at the clinic would have to confirm the newcomer’s estimate on how far along the pregnancy was. One day he estimated the woman at 16 weeks, and called in a “senior” with a solid reputation outside the clinic who told him, “She’s only 10 weeks. You can do her.” Walden started to work and soon was in the middle of a treacherous, 16 week abortion that took him an hour and a half, with blood, bone and fetal parts all over the room. Meanwhile the “senior” doctor was running through three women and earning three times the pay while he was tied up. Walden told me that the old hands pulled this on a lot of the new boys, to tangle them in impossible cases and reduce the competition for fees. On the side, of course, there was the trifling matter that they were putting the women patients in unnecessary danger.”

Abortion Clinics Compared to Car Dealerships

An article in the New York Times describes how abortion clinics compete for customers and discusses how they try to maximize their profits. From the article:

Abortion clinics are not so different from other specialty services, said Dr. William Ramos, who runs an abortion clinic in Las Vegas.

“In the entire state of Nevada, there is only one Lexus dealer and only one Acura dealer,” he said.

$80,000 A Year For a 10 Hour Work Week

Abortion center to prospective doctors:

“Salary and fringe benefits will be extremely attractive. Imagine the opportunity to make at least $80,000 a year for no more than 10 hours work each week.”

Pamela Zeckman, Pamela Warrick et al., “the Abortion Racketeers” Chicago Sun-Times, 13, 17, 19, 12, 29, November 18, 1978

Keep in mind that this quote is from 1978 – abortionists make much more money now.

This, unfortunately, is what the doctors are doing to earn this kind of money.

Abortion More Lucrative For Providers Than Other Forms of Surgery

In 1992, when the average annual income for a physician in Portland, Oregon was just under $100,000, a local abortionist testified in court that in the previous year his income had been $345,000. One physician says:

“An abortionist, working only 20 or 30 hours a week, with no overhead, can earn from 3 to 10 times as much as an ethical surgeon.”
