Baby survives abortion, is loved by mother

Shannon Skinner had an abortion, but baby Amelia survived. Skinner says:

‘‘I can’t stop cuddling her — I never want to put her down…We call her our miracle baby because we just don’t know how she survived. She must have really wanted to be here.

Watching her sleep, I can’t bear to think of her not existing. For a long time I felt guilty, but now I just feel relief.’

Helen Weathers “The baby who SURVIVED an abortion… and the mother racked by guilt that she may have harmed the tiny child she now adores” Daily Mail 23 May 2014

How many more mothers would have loved their aborted children if they had just waited a little longer?

Post-Abortion woman: there is more abortion stigma now

From a woman who had abortions in the 1970s and early 1980s:

“There was much less stigma related to abortion than there is now. In fact, it was almost an act of liberation.”

Abortion and sex trafficking

Studies and quotes on abortion and sex trafficking:

“Of 67 trafficked women who responded to a question concerning abortion experience, 29.9% reported having multiple abortions.”

L Lederer & C Wetzel “The health consequences of sex trafficking and their implications for identifying victims in health care facilities” Annals of Health Law  23 (1) 2014

…..

“While only 34 respondents [among a survey of sex trafficked women] answered the question whether their abortions were of their own volition, more than half (18) of the group indicated that one or more of their abortions was at least partly forced upon them. Some women are forced to abort during late pregnancy and to resume sex work only days later.”

M Getu “Human trafficking and development: The role of microfinance” Transformation 23(3) 2006 p 73

In a study of sex trafficking victims:

“Despite their abusive situations …87.8% had contact with a healthcare provider while they were being trafficked….Survivors had significant contact with clinical treatment facilities, most commonly Planned Parenthood clinics, which more than a quarter of survivors (29.6%) visited. More than half (57.1%) of respondents had received treatment at some type of clinic (urgent care, women’s health, neighborhood or Planned Parenthood.)”

Direct quote from the book:

“According to a sex trafficking expert in Wichita, Kansas in the United States, pregnant women are in demand due to consumer fetishes. As a result, they carry their pregnancies nearly to term and are then forced to abort….Another expert in human trafficking confirmed this claim that forced abortion is directly related to pregnancy fetishes.”

Stephen Wagner, former director of the Human Trafficking Program at the Department of Health and Human Services:

“The mortality rate for someone in commercial sexual exploitation is 40 times higher than for a non-exploited person of the same age. Helping a victim return to exploitation more quickly by terminating a pregnancy increases the odds of death.”

Abused women are more likely to have abortions

“Following their analysis of 31 studies, Garcia-Moreno, & Pallitto (2013) found “strong evidence that women with a history of intimate partner violence are more likely to report having had an induced abortion.”

Survey shows people don’t know when abortion is legal

In a poll, people were asked when abortion was legal. Nearly all of them gave the wrong answers.

This is what the poll found:

49% of people surveyed think that abortion is illegal after 7 weeks

76% think abortion is illegal in the 2nd trimester and beyond

93% think abortion is illegal in the third trimester.

11% think abortion is illegal after the unborn implants on the uterine wall

CSUN Survey Results: Abortions until What Point in Pregnancy? Stand To Reason November 10, 2006

In reality, abortion is legal before 20 weeks in nearly every state, up to 24 – 26 weeks in some states, and in a few states, all the way up until birth. In New Jersey, for example, abortions can be legally done on the mother’s due date, even if the baby and mother are healthy.  The baby can be killed as long as she is in the womb, regardless of how far along the mother is.

The preborn baby implants in the uterine wall only a few days after conception, before the mother even knows she is pregnant.

Researcher: many abused children are wanted

Researcher Vincent J. Fontana says that most children who are abused were from wanted pregnancies. This contradicts the claim that abortion prevents child abuse:

“Many maltreated children are children who were very much wanted before birth. Perhaps they were wanted for the wrong reasons…It is only after the children arrive that the doubts set in and the problems surface.”

Woman walking into abortion clinic meets pro-lifers, chooses life

Suzan, a British woman, told her story. She was pregnant and already had three children. She didn” think she could cope with another, and she scheduled an abortion. But she met pro-lifers on the way in:

“When I got there [pro-life protesters from the group Abort 67 ] gave me information about abortions…

They had some leaflets about abortions and they started talking to me. They had pictures of a foetus at eight weeks and they had pictures of aborted babies…..

8 week preborn baby
8 week preborn baby

I was really scared. I told them I had three kids already and I didn’t need this baby but they told me I didn’t have to go through with the termination…..

They took me to a coffee shop, they bought me tea and I said I would go home and try to think about it.

I tried not to listen to them, but they were praying for me and I was crying and shaking.

The way they talked to me gave me faith and their encouragement [and] made me decide to keep the baby.

I promised them I’d go to the doctor in a few days. They promised to come with me.

They kept in touch and came to my home to encourage me. They kept checking I was ok. That kept me going.

Now I thank God I didn’t pass through that process. At eight weeks you can really see the leg is already formed, the head, the face.

Then when I finally saw my daughter, I thought, ‘How could I have wanted to terminate this baby?’

She has given me joy and peace in my family. She has made me and my partner stronger.

The campaigners have also helped me by providing clothes for the baby.

They don’t pressure you outside the clinics if you don’t want to listen. They’re just giving their opinion.

They should be allowed to do it because some people will change their minds. If I didn’t listen to them, I would have regretted it all my life….

I want people to have the happiness and peace that I have.

My daughter Miracle is now eight months and two weeks old. She’s standing, walking around the table on her own. She’s really growing fast…. I thank God I didn’t do it.”

Former abortionist: trimester framework is no longer relevent

The Surpreme Court in Roe v. Wade made major differences in abortion law based on what trimester the baby was in and when the child was “viable.” Former abortionist Dr. Bernard Nathanson explains how the trimester framework is no longer scientifically relevant.

“…with the advent of realtime ultrasound in 1976, obstetricians abandoned the trimester concept as a crude and unscientific [and] antique and began to describe pregnancy in the more precise language of weeks… Viability is a pathetically unreliable criterion for protection of a human being under the law; there are so many variables and it is so poorly defined that it is all but useless.

Bernard Nathanson,  M.D., Bernadell Technical Bulletin, Vol. No. 1, October 1989, page 1-3, Bernadell Inc., New York
