Abortion Clinic Workers Can Be Disturbed by Sonographic Images

An article in ObGyn News describes the difficulty of using an ultrasound  machine in an abortion clinic:

After mentioning that women should not be shown the ultrasound because it may upset them,

“Staff members also may be affected by sonographic images and may need opportunities for venting their feelings and reconfirming their priorities…”

Abortions for “Sex Selection” Upset Abortion Providers

In  an article in the American Medical News, the author discusses how certain abortions are hard on the abortion providers:

“One of the most vexing problems providers face is their feelings about procedures done for reasons that make them – or others – uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s “sex selection” – the patient wants a boy and is carrying a girl.”

Diane M Gianelli, “Abortion Providers Share Inner Conflicts” American Medical News, July 12, 1993

Some women do abort when they are carrying a girl instead of a boy. When opposing a Bill that would address this, Planned Parenthood insisted that this does not happen, but many abortion providers have admitted that it does.

Sex selection abortions, are, by definition, late-term abortions – they cannot be performed until an ultrasound can identify whether the baby is a boy or girl, in the second trimester.

Psychiatrist: Postabortion Women Suffer “Horribly”

A pro-choice psychiatrist who believe that life does not begin until three months after birth, has treated a lot of women after abortion.

“Every single one of them has suffered horribly. They never forgive themselves.”

She says there is no difference between those who are very religious and those who aren’t.

“There may be more fear with the women who are very religious… But the level of grief for women who are even atheist is about the same.”

Pro-choice Activist: Science Doesn’t Matter

Pro-choice groups have to work against science, because science teaches that life begins at conception.  This pro-choice activist makes a case that science is irrelevant.

“Medical science is irrelevant to the question of when a fetus becomes a human being — that matter is a legal and philosophical one, not a medical one.”

Planned Parenthood Makes Abortion a “Priority” Says Pro-Choice Activist

One pro-choice activist is honest about Planned Parenthood and the abortions they performed. She admits that abortion is a priority for Planned Parenthood, and that they make most of their money off of performing them. These are things that most pro-choicers deny, so this is a rare moment of honesty.

“…providing abortions is part of the mission of Planned Parenthood, and they do make it a priority. It’s a necessary service, after all…. a complete shut-down of abortion services would create a cash flow problem for them.  Abortions are 3 percent of the actual services Planned Parenthood provides, but they constitute a larger chunk of their income….Which makes sense; abortions simply cost more than Pap smears and birth control pills, and Planned Parenthood provides a huge chunk of all the abortions in the country, even for women who get their standard gynecological care elsewhere.  The reason for that should be obvious; a lot of women’s regular gynecologists don’t provide abortion, and so if you want an abortion, your doctor is likely to refer you to Planned Parenthood.”

Woman Coerced Into an Abortion by Her Husband

Marie tells her story:

I was 21 when I had my abortion. My husband was going to school and I was home with the two kids; I got pregnant again when Rachel was not yet one-year-old. When I told Vince he got really upset – he has a pretty controlling personality. He said that only ignorant people have more than two kids. It was the population control idea: two in, two out.

I was seeing a Christian therapist for depression, and she told me that I couldn’t go through the pregnancy because of my condition. When I said I didn’t think abortion was right, she said that was only because of my Catholic upbringing. She told me to listen to my husband.

So at last I went to the doctor. When he asked me what I wanted to do, I said my husband wanted an abortion, but the baby… And he interrupted me saying, “What have you been reading? It’s a fetus.” So I scheduled the abortion. I had about a week of waiting, hoping that Vince would turn around and say, “No, I want this baby!”

It never took place. He never rushed in and saved me. All the prayers I said – it never happened. It never happened.

I remember him trying to cheer me up on the way to the abortion. He stopped at an art festival. I can remember picking up this face that was fired with coal; it had black splotches all over it. I bought that thing. Vince said, “Why did you buy that?” I said, “This is my soul.” I felt just terrible.

Finally, on that last stretch of road before the clinic, he turned to me and said, “Do you think you’re smarter than the Supreme Court?” That just killed any last maternal instinct that was in me. I thought, how could I be smarter than the Supreme Court?

I went through it. One of the things that amazed me was that, when I got there, they would not let Vince come any further than the front door. I think if he had, it might have made a difference. It was easy for him to push and run, when it came to doing it, I was by myself.

The nurse at the clinic said, “You can have another baby when you’re ready.” It was the only time that anyone but me used the word “baby.” I have a suction abortion, and I can still remember the expression on the nurse’s face as she watched.”

Supreme Court: Cooperations are People, Unborn Children are Not

The Supreme Court has ruled that unborn babies are not “persons” according to the law and, therefore, cannot be protected legally. However, the Court also:

“consistently held that corporations are “persons” for purposes of the Due Process Clause.”

Relationships Break up After Women are Coerced into Abortions

Often women have abortions at the urging of their partners. Tragically, many of the relationships do not survive the pain and resentment this causes.

“Eunice”, telling up her abortion:

“When I was at the clinic waiting for the abortion, I kept hoping my husband would show up. I kept hoping he would come in and say, “Don’t do this! I changed my mind!”

She had her abortion, and the marriage broke up several months later

Frederica Mathews-Green. Real Choices: Offering Practical, Life-Affirming Alternatives to Abortion (Sisters, Oregon: Multnomah Books, 1994) 62

Kate:

“Nobody asked me, “Is this really what you want?… I was hoping and praying that someone, my husband, would come in and stop it from happening. But he was totally opposed to what I wanted to do. I felt like I was just being selfish, wanting the child; it was too much of a burden on his health.”

I asked how her husband’s health is now; she responds that he’s fine, but he isn’t her husband anymore. He left her a few years ago.”

Same book, p 63 to 64

The author, who interviewed these women and many others, made the following observation:

“When postabortion women talk about the reasons for their decision, they talk most often about the failure of the baby’s father to be supportive, to fill the father’s role. Unexpected pregnancy can raise some breathtaking problems, but a partner’s vigilant love has a way of easing them. Imagine a woman discovering a pregnancy in a difficult situation, but her partner saying to her, “I love you, I love our baby, I’ll do anything I can to make this family work.” On the other hand, imagine a story from one of my listening groups: a married woman with two kids, living in reasonable security, to whom her husband says, “Only ignorant people have more than two kids. I don’t want this baby. You have to have an abortion.” Which child will survive?”

In a study that appeared in International Review of Family Planning (Vincent M. Rue “Abortion in Relationship Context” International Review of Natural Family Planning Summer 1985 p 105) 70% of relationships ended within six months of a woman’s abortion

Planned Parenthood Lies About Sonogram Bill

Planned Parenthood often has no qualms about lying to their supporters. Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, sent a letter to her supporters saying the following about bill HB 15:

“This week, Gov. Perry and anti-women’s health legislators in Texas passed a bill that would force women seeking abortion care to view a sonogram….Stand with Planned Parenthood and Texas women: tell Gov. Perry to stop blocking women’s access to health care.”

HB 15 actually does not require a woman to view an ultrasound, it simply offers her the opportunity to do so. This is a blatant lie.

House Bill 15 Information, February 6, 2012,Page 3

” A pregnant woman may choose not to view the sonogram images.”

Eric Scheidler” Planned Parenthood CEO Lies about Blocked Texas Ultrasound Bill” September 8, 2011

Planned Parenthood, which performs a sonogram before each abortion as a matter of routine, opposes letting a woman see the image, even if she wants to. There have been many accounts from women who went into have abortions at Planned Parenthood and were not allowed to see the ultrasound screen or were strongly discouraged from doing so. They have no problem with lying to their supporters so they don’t realize how extreme their agenda is.  A woman should not even be allowed the opportunity to view an ultrasound according to Planned Parenthood. After all, many women might change their mind after seeing one. Read about one woman and her reaction to seeing the ultrasound here.

Planned Parenthood has lied to their supporters about other issues too. Here is an example concerning a law that would’ve made abortion clinics meet the same medical and safety standards of other outpatient medical facilities. Planned Parenthood opposed this law, and lied about it.

Teenager Forced to Abort Due to Lack of Support

A woman who had an abortion before due to lack of support from her mother and her boyfriend said the following:

“So it was back to the Manhattan abortion clinic. What else was I going to do? Who could I turn to? The minister who didn’t have the time of day for me? Somebody at my school? There’s nobody. So my mom takes me to the clinic. When it’s time for me to sign the form I whispered to the nurse, “I don’t want to have the abortion – my mother’s making me, she somewhere in the building, but please don’t make me have the abortion.” The nurse just said, “Look, there are people waiting. Do you want to do it or don’t you? Make a decision or get out.” The thoughts were flying through my head: where would I live? Who would pay the doctor? Who could I turn to?

I couldn’t think of any answers. So I said, “Okay. I’ll have the abortion.” And I did”

Many women have abortions due to lack of support from the people in their lives. Often, the male partner coerces them into it, other times, it is the parents when the woman is a teenager. Read more about coerced abortions here.
