Teenager’s Parents Favor abortion 10 to 1

“In the Guttmacher Institute’s 1987 study nearly 30% of minors seeking abortions attributed their decisions in part to the fact that their parents wanted them to have abortions. A 1991 Guttmacher study of teenage abortion patients amplified this pattern. On learning of their daughters’ pregnancies, parents favored abortion over childbirth by a 4 to 1 ratio. By the time of the abortion, the ratio of preference rose to 10 to 1. Mothers, fathers, and boyfriends were all more likely to encourage abortion than to encourage childbirth. More than a quarter of the mothers tried to persuade their daughters to abort, only 7% encouraged childbirth. Aside from stress on their parents, the most common repercussions the girls reported after disclosing their pregnancies wasn’t that they were beaten of punished or even that they  became uncomfortable living at home but that their parents were forcing them to have an abortion.”

This is an old reference, but it is still significant. It would be interesting to find out if these numbers have changed.

Dr. Weiss describes what he sees

You can count there is a limb here, I can see feet and hands, I can see skull fragments, I can see trunk.

Doctor Comments on the Faces of Aborted Babies

20 weeks

The fetus has a tiny face and a relatively large head. The bones of the back of the skull are very soft. When we make an incision in the base of the skull, we don’t disturb any of the skin covering the entire skull, we don’t disturb the scalp. So the top and back of the head itself just collapses and looks a little wrinkly and collapsed, but the facial structures are not disturbed at all by that procedure.

Anti-abortion activists impose their religious beliefs on others, says writer

A pro-choice writer speaks out against the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, which decreed that a person who harms or kills an unborn child while committing a federal crime can face charges for injuring the unborn baby. For example, someone who kills a pregnant woman could be charged with two counts of murder under the law.

No children, born or otherwise, will be protected by the so-called Unborn Victims of Violence Act that President Bush signed into law last week. The new measure is a legal trifle that makes it a crime to harm a fetus during the commission of another federal crime. The presumed logic of the bill is that terrorists, drug kingpins and interstate kidnappers will be deterred by the fear that they could face an additional charge if they cause a woman to miscarry during the commission of their crimes. We doubt it.

….

As we have argued before, whether a fetus in utero can be defined as a person with rights is at heart a theological question….. The end goal of the anti-abortion movement is nothing less than to impose its religious worldview on the rest of us.

Abortionist Admits to Crushing Babies’ Skulls

Testimony from a trial in New York concerning partial birth abortion:

THE COURT: Excuse me. Grasping forceps, does that mean you crush the skull?

THE WITNESS: You compress the skull, yes.

THE COURT: You crush it, right?

THE WITNESS: Yes.

Dr. Marilynn Frederiksen, abortionist, in sworn testimony in National Abortion Federation, et. al. v. Ashcroft, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, April 6, 2004

The skull of the baby is crushed in both the now banned partial birth abortion procedure (D&X) and the commonly used D&E procedure, which is still legal.

Dr. Randall K. O’Bannon on RU-486

Dr. Randall K. O’Bannon, who has tracked chemical abortifacients such as RU486 (mifepristone) for National Right to Life for a number of years, discusses the dangers of RU-486 in an article about a proposed law that would regulate facilities that offer it:

“It isn’t as simple as having a doctor pass out some pills. Women undergoing these chemical abortions will endure heavy bleeding, painful cramping, and various forms of gastro-intestinal distress, even if these are ‘successful.'”

Some women “hemorrhage and need emergency surgery,” O’Bannon noted. “A number of women have died in the U.S. after contracting deadly infections. The last thing you want is a doctor who is unprepared to deal with these outcomes.”

Pro-Choice Activist on Clinic’s Dangers

From an article by Misty Mealey:

In 1989, the Miami Herald ran a story about a local abortion clinic whose conditions were so heinous that one woman died and another was maimed. Abortion proponents admitted that they had known about the clinic conditions but had remained silent for political reasons. According to pro-choice advocate Janis Compton–Carr:

“In my gut, I am completely aghast at what goes on at that place. But I staunchly oppose anything that would correct this situation in law.”

Live Births During D & Es

Dr. Carhart is a late term abortionist. One article says the following:

17 weeks, D &Es can be done at this point

Carhart said at least once a month, an entire fetus is expelled from the mother during a D&E he is performing. “The fetuses are alive at the time of delivery,” he said. There is a heartbeat “very frequently.”
