Medical intern horrified by late-term abortion of twins

16 weeks

In an article profiling late-term abortionist Doctor William Rashbaum (now deceased) the writer said that late-term abortions are more dangerous that early ones, but that this is not why abortionists don’t like to perform them:

Technical difficulty, however, is not why many doctors don’t want to do second-trimester abortions. What troubles them is that as a pregnancy progresses, the fetus increasingly resembles a baby….

She goes on to say:

20 weeks

The procedure is gruesome, as anyone who has seen it, including Rashbaum, will attest. One of his former interns remembers watching Rashbaum do a D&E on well-developed twins one hot summer day. He intently leaned in closely and methodically pulled piece after piece of the fetuses out of the mother’s uterus, ignoring the attending staff’s whispers of horror — “It’s twins. It’s twins” — to each other. The intern reacted violently, running home, throwing up, and asking herself, “Is this right?

And then:

Rashbaum pisses people off with his cranky, despotic ways, but the other doctors are relieved he’s around to do a job they don’t want.”

This is Dismemberment Abortion: Video (not visually graphic)

This video contains graphic descriptions but no graphic footage. Father Frank Pavone shows the viewer how an abortion doctor does a dismemberment (D & E) abortion, which is the most common abortion procedure done in the second trimester and early third trimester.

Here is the video

Pro-Choice group: It is cheaper to abort children than support them

Only a few years after Roe V Wade, a pro-choice group made the following argument that the state Medicaid program should pay for abortions for the poor:

7 weeks. Most abortions are done around this time or later

“Financing abortions for the poor is far less expensive than the cost of childbirth and welfare support for unwanted children,” he wrote. “So the government is actually paying out your tax dollars to force poor women to become mothers.”

Brief for Appellees at 185, Harris v. McRae, 448 U.S. 297 (1980); and Norman Dorsen, ACLU Campaign for Choice fund-raising letter to “Dear Friend,” n.d. [received by the writer on 29 Sept. 1979].

It is easier easier to kill poor children than support them. But this is not helping the less fortunate- or the country. Killing children to save money is wrong on a profound level.

Abortionist/Psychiatrist admits that abortion causes “trauma” to women

Dr. Julius Fogel, who is a psychiatrist and has performed hundreds of abortions:

“Every woman – whatever her age, background, or sexuality – has a trauma at destroying a pregnancy. A level of humanness is touched. This is a part of her own life. She destroys a pregnancy, she is destroying herself. There is no way it can be innocuous. One is dealing with the life force. It is totally beside the point whether or not you think a life is there. You cannot deny that something is being created and that this creation is physically happening… Often the trauma may sink into the unconscious, and never surface in the woman’s lifetime. But it is not as harmless and casual an event as many in the pro-abortion crowd insist. A psychological price is paid. It may be alienation; it may be a pushing away from human warmth, perhaps a hardening of the maternal instinct. Something happens on the deeper levels of a woman’s consciousness when she destroys a pregnancy. I know this is a psychiatrist.””

Legal abortion deaths were higher than illegal ones, prior to Roe versus Wade

David Reardon cites statistics from Hilger’s Medical Hazards of Abortion on abortion deaths after abortion was legalized in New York (before Roe versus Wade):

“In contrast to New York’s “official” safety record for abortion, a 1971 study done by Dr. Joseph J Rovinsky concluded that the actual abortion mortality rate in New York, was no less than 38 per 100,000. Indeed, by 1972, the year prior to Roe versus Wade, the reported number of women who died from legal abortion exceeded the number dying from illegal abortion by almost 2 to 1.

Only after all requirements for reporting were struck down [did] the number of reported deaths from legal abortion even begin to level off.”

When abortion was legalized, many “back alley” abortionist simply hung up their shingles and began practicing abortion legally. Read about illegal abortions and abortion deaths here. Read about women who have died from legal abortion here.

Abortion Doctor Has Recurring Nightmares, Does not Stop

In an article profiling abortionist Dr. William Rashbaum (now deceased) who performed over 20,000 abortions in his career, it said:

“… although Rashbaum felt he was performing a necessary service, it weighed heavily on his conscience. He was troubled by a recurring dream of a fetus trying to hold onto the walls of a uterus by its tiny fingernails. Raised to believe that abortion was wrong, he reasons, “What kind of dreams do you think you are going to have?”

REBECCA PALEY “Cruel to be kind: In the twilight of his career, a late-term-abortion doctor tells all” The Boston Phoenix  Dec 2003

Sadly, he never stopped performing abortions because of these dreams. He ignored his conscience. We must not.

Los Angeles Doctor Who Killed Two Women Called “Unselfish and Committed”

A pro-lifer in Brad Stetson, editor The Silent Subject: Reflections on the Unborn in American Culture (Westport, Connecticut: Praeger, 1996) (page 8) cited:

“A Los Angeles doctor who operates two abortion clinics is called “an unselfish and committed provider” by a judge who sentenced him to one year probation for the deaths of two women to whom he was administering abortions. Later, following a review by the Medical Board of California, the doctor, who has performed approximately 100,000 abortions, had his medical license revoked.”

Planned Parenthood medical director: Mother’s life “hardly ever” threatened by pregnancy

Mary Calderone, medical director of Planned Parenthood, said the following in 1960:

“Medically speaking, that is, from the point of view of diseases of the various systems, cardiac, genitourinary, and so on, it’s hardly ever necessary today to consider the life of the mother as threatened by a pregnancy.”

Mary Calderone “Illegal Abortion As a Public Health Problem,” American Journal of Pub. Health 50 1960): 948 – 949 Quoted inClarke D Forsythe Abuse of Discretion: the inside Story of Roe Versus Wade (New York: Encounter Books, 2013)

In 1960, Mary Calderon was campaigning to make abortion legal. The fact that even in a work dedicated to promoting abortion, she admits that pregnancy was very rarely a danger to a woman’s life is very telling. It is very rare for a situation to arise where abortion is needed to save a woman’s life – it was rare in 1960, and it’s even more rare today. While very few pro-lifers would say that a woman should not be allowed to have an abortion in such a case, the argument “to save the life of the mother” should not be used as a wedge for abortion on demand.

“I’m a co-conspirator to murder…”

An African-American postabortive father named Brian tells his story:

“I’m a former co-conspirator to murder. I was so fearful and self-centered that I put my own flesh and blood to the knife on an abortionist’s table in New York City.

There are consequences when we abandon our God designed role as provider and protector of our families. When you drove your wife/fiancé/girlfriend to the “clinic” as I did years ago – or were an agreeable, non-present partner – something inside you died when your child died.

As for me, my manhood and self-respect died. The natural, God-given drive, leadership, and protection instilled in a man for his family died. I lost a son who would have been 28 this year. He would have been an older brother for my son and 2 daughters who are alive today. It did not stop there. Miscarriage, a common side effect of abortion, banged down my door and took my youngest daughter shortly after.

I lost the trust, respect, and deep companionship of my wife – we behaved more like roommates than spouses. For years, she loathed the sight of me because I didn’t have the courage to say, “Let’s get married, have this child, and have a life.” Instead, I was derelict of all my family duties and chose what I thought was the easy way out.

I remember my shame. I was unwilling to tackle the responsibility of raising a child and supporting a family. I wanted to continue “shacking up” and not pay any penalties. It was easy for me to buy into the lie “the unborn is not a child” – even though I knew in my heart it was wrong.

“How can a wife trust the husband who will end his own son’s life? What would people think of me if they knew?” Questions like these weighed heavily on my mind. Like most men, I “got on” with life. I buried myself in causes, ministries, vocations, newspapers, and recreation. All the while, self-hatred anchored me to my albatross – mediocrity. This further pounded nails into my wife’s heart – and my own.

Maybe you’re the father whose child was aborted without your knowledge or consent. Maybe you pleaded with the mother to keep the child or choose adoption, only to be told you had no right or say in the matter. You are the real brothers because you fought for your family! You survived the legally imposed impotence that bludgeoned your fatherhood, leaving millions of our brothers griefstricken – with rage searing through your heart like a hot branding iron. The day your child died, you died too.

Want a snapshot of America? The 1973 Roe V Wade decision devastated the family and destroyed whole populations. African-American men: listen to me! 33% of our race is GONE – I and maybe even you have contributed to the genocide of our own people!

That’s why I am passionate about supporting abortion recovery ministries and strongly urge men to participate in one if you, your wife, or girlfriend have been involved with abortion. My wife and I were able to go through abortion recovery and our marriage and family were restored. Individually, we have reconciled with God, and our children and have experienced piece that permeates our hearts.

As black men, let us take responsibility and have the courage to say what I did not say many years ago, “Honey, let’s do the right thing, believe God, and bring this child into the world as husband and wife.”
