Woman gets counseling for tubal ligation, not abortion

A woman who had an abortion remarked on the lack of counseling in the clinic:

“So, we confirmed the pregnancy. There was no interview about the decision at that time. I just said ‘No, I don’t want to continue the pregnancy.’ At that time, they weren’t even concerned about consulting with my husband. But I said, ‘He agrees.’ The doctor said, ‘So, when do you want to do it?’ Which I thought, years later, was interesting, because when I wanted my tubal ligation, after my second child was born, they counseled me every month for almost nine months. ‘Is that still your decision? Are you sure you don’t want your husband to come in?’ So, there was a great deal more counseling approximately five or six years later. Obviously, [there] should have been a little more concern [about the abortion]. They were very off-handed about the postpartum events after the pregnancy’s termination and things like that.”

Cost of abortions determines how many women get them, study finds

From pro-life author Mark Crutcher:

“The abortion lobby’s claim has always been that when a woman does not want to be pregnant, she will crawl through hell on broken glass to get an abortion… But for that to be true, it would have to also be true that the cost of abortions does not significantly impact the rate at which women have abortions. The abortion industry’s problem is that this was disproven years ago. In April 1988, after 15 years of legal abortion, the financial publication, Economic Inquiry, VolumeXXVI, featured a study about the relationship between the cost of abortion and the rate of abortion. The major finding of this research was that,

“The significant inverse relationship between the price of abortions and the abortion rate confirms that the fundamental law of demand is applicable to abortions.”

He goes on to give another example:

“Colorado abortionist, Warren Hern, reinforced this in May 1997 during an annual convention of the National Abortion Federation held in Boston, Massachusetts.

At a workshop held during the event, Hern complained that paying for ultrasound machines would increase the cost of abortions by $25 and that this would cause patient loads at abortion clinics to “plummet.” In effect, he was not merely confirming that price affects the abortion rate, he was stating that even small increases in price have a profound impact.…

The point is, despite the abortion lobby’s “hell on broken glass” rhetoric, the evidence is clear that the abortion decision is a highly marginal one. Because of that, desperation has far less influence on abortion rates than price or distance to a clinic or any other factor that comes between the woman considering abortion and the people who want to sell it to her. If that were not the case, a $25 price increase would not impact abortion rates much less cause the number of women having abortions to – in Hern’s words – plummet.”

Judge turns down abortion request- girl later thanks him

Judge Randall J Hekman refused to grant a judicial bypass to a 13-year old girl who wanted an abortion. A judicial bypass allows a minor to petition a judge for permission to have an abortion without informing her parents. It is  a way to get around a parental consent/notification law. Every state with a parental consent/notification law allows minors to get a judicial bypass.

This letter was sent to the judge by the 13 year old he refused to grant a bypass to:

“I am writing to tell you how happy I am that you made the decision you did about me not having an abortion. When I think about it now I feel sort of foolish, of that whole incident… I think if I would of gone ahead with the abortion, I would of felt very disappointed in myself. I just want to thank you for giving me the extra time to think about it. I am really looking towards having my baby… My baby and I thank you very much!”

Sadly, the baby boy died shortly after birth due to health problems. But the 13 year old mother was spared from the trauma and guilt of abortion.

Post-abortion woman has dream: “Where is my son?”

From a woman named Susan who had an abortion:

“…. I was feeling really empty. Socially, I didn’t have anybody to talk to, and I think at that point I kind of longed to have that child. …”

Susan recounted a vivid dream she had during the same period. “In the dream I was back in Ecuador, and there was a party. It was kind of in a nice patio area, lots of flowers, everything was fun and pretty. There were lots of kids running around and my boyfriend was there. Somebody approached me, I’m pretty sure it was him, and said ‘Where’s our son?’ And it sent me into this state of panic. I was thinking, ‘I know our son is here somewhere.’ Even though at the same time I knew he wasn’t. And I started looking in all the children’s faces, and I remember they were all beautiful. I kept looking at each one, and I was thinking ‘This is not my son, this is not my son, where’s my son?’ And I was getting in a wilder and wilder state of panic, almost to the point where I think I was screaming.”

Planned Parenthood worker: Women cry after abortion

A Planned Parenthood worker called Dr. Michael Brown’s radio show and asked if God could ever forgive her for working in an abortion clinic. Brown asks her about the women who have abortions:

Radio Host Dr. Michael Brown: The women that come in and out. When you see them having, making this decision, when you see them leaving, is it just some wonderful, happy event for them as well?

Planned Parenthood worker: Oh God no. They cry, and the people, we call them support people that are with them, if they come with a parent, the parents will usually cry – they’re very somber and they cry a lot and we have journals in the back, in the recovery room, where we encourage them to write down their feelings, things like that – and I read them. They’re never happy. They always regret it.”

Pregnant mom sees ultrasound, becomes pro-life

One pro-choice woman became pro-life after watching her baby develop on ultrasound. Her visits to the obstetrician let her see her baby girl as she developed in the womb.

“When I went to my prenatal appointments, we would take pictures of Avalon via the ultrasound.

I would study those pictures each month, and I was surprised by how well-developed she was while in the womb. I could see her tiny hands, and I watched as she would put her thumb in her mouth, blink her eyes, and yawn. She was so precious, so delicate, and so beautiful!

After looking, evaluating, and cherishing those precious photos, I realized how soon life is created and formed in the womb, and I knew that what was growing inside of me was not just a blob of tissue, but a complete and formed baby – a real, live human being. Now, obviously, my perspective on abortion has changed…

At one time I was pro-abortion; now I am pro-life.”

Indian woman kills four babies for being girls

A report by the United Nations Population Fund told the story of an Indian woman named Ranu:

“She strangled her first two babies to death because they were girls, terminated two other pregnancies because the foetuses were female …Yet she and her husband Mukhtar have no remorse about the fate of their “missing” daughters.

“I will kill other children if they are born girls,” Ranu said, explaining that she is too poor to pay for their weddings…..

The girl child is killed by putting a sand bag on her face or by throttling her. It is not a rare phenomenon. It happens without hindrance.”

Woman feels like “lowlife” at abortion clinic

From a woman who had an abortion:

“I just didn’t have any dialogue with anyone other than the woman who woke me up to tell me it was time for me to leave. That’s the only person, other than the anesthesiologist. I don’t recall a dialogue that happened. I did remember that doctor’s name, so I suppose I may have talked with her. It pretty much felt like I got wheeled into this room, and this thing happened to me. I felt pretty much like I was lowlife. I felt like they were probably doing a lot of these, that I was just one more.”

0.005% of abortions in England were done for risk to woman’s life

The following was cited in “ABORTION A Briefing Book For Canadian Legislators” Campaign Life Coalition NATIONAL PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE July 2002

“The British Hansard Written Answers of July 1, 1987 discloses that of 2.6 million abortions carried out in England and Wales between 1968 and 1986, 123 (or .005 percent) were performed to save the life of the mother.”

Many doctors, including abortionists, have said that abortion is never needed to save the life of a woman.
