A man named Richard explains why he and his wife Natalie decided to abort their son when they found out the baby had down syndrome:
“Both of us are in jobs that are a lot more than jobs. They’re things that we do because we believe in the work. All those things would have been affected by a life of caring for a Down’s child.”
Reflecting on the abortion, Richard said:
“I think if it had been some years earlier, when amniocentesis wasn’t available, and we had had a Down child come to term…we would have done our best to raise the child and give it all the love we could. I think we could have done a good job of raising a Down child. But we had a choice. One of the good things and one of the terrifying things about technology is that it gives you that kind of choice.”
Although he and his wife had the abortion because they did not want taking care of the baby to interfere with their jobs, he was sad when he saw the lifeless body of his son after the abortion.

“[After the abortion] Richard asked to see the baby….Alone in an empty room with his dead baby boy, Richard wept. He was still overcome when he returned to Natalie’s room. “It was stunning to me because I’ve known him for a long time and I’ve never seen him cry,” Natalie said.”

“My landlady — a heterosexual atheist, but my closest friend, never suggested an abortion. Others did however. But I was raised in a pro-life home, so abortion was never a consideration for me.
The first phone call I made when I got home was to my dear friend in the pro-life movement, Theresa, who was active in Operation Rescue, but I contacted her in particular because she was the adoption coordinator. “I need some parents to choose from soon. I’m four months along, and that doesn’t leave us much time.” She wanted to be my Lamaze coach, no matter what I decided about parents — we were dear friends from pro-life activism.”
She did tell me about two sets of parents she found, but after pausing she asked me, “Can we have her?”
Maria said yes.
“When my baby girl was born, I had mixed feelings about holding her. I wanted to, but forming a bond only to break it moments later did not seem wise. I did ask to see her. I had watched them give her some water and they were all amazed at how quickly she sucked down the whole bottle! They put her in my arms — I ached to nurse her, but did not dare. Theresa asked for a breast pump and handed it to me, so she got my colostrum. I kissed her head, and handed her back — a healthy child. I could have died right then without a single regret….
I wanted to kill HIM, but the child is NOT HIM. It seems so simple to me, and it IS simple, but Planned Parenthood and their ilk take horrific advantage of a woman’s trauma to sell abortion. They are NOT the place to go for rape counseling or any kind of help after a rape because an abortionist is hardly an unbiased expert…. I’ve shared my story here because my hope is that others will be encouraged to be courageous in choosing life and sharing their own pro-life stories, and to be sure that rape survivors like me are never used as an excuse to justify any abortions, under any circumstances.”

Late term abortionist Dr. George Tiller, who did abortions through all nine months of pregnancy, once hit a pro-life protester with his car. The protester, Mark Geitzen, was hit in the leg. He believes Tiller ran him down on purpose. Geitzen says:

An anonymous call tipped off investigators that a baby was born alive after an abortion at a Florida abortion clinic. When authorities went to the clinic, they could not find a body. It was later revealed that workers had hidden the body by throwing it on the roof of the clinic. It was determined that the baby was born alive.
When asked if the clinic would be prosecuted, Assistant State Attorney Kathleen Hoague said:
“There are lots of questions that medically I don’t have the answer to yet. You’re talking about a fetus that could be aborted legally.”
Even though the baby was born alive, charges were never pressed. Authorities said the baby was too young to have had a good chance at living a normal life should the child have been given medical treatment.
Pro-Life activist Jill Staneck said:
“In no other homicide investigation do you wonder how long would this person have lived had she not been murdered.”

Research by pro-choice Italian doctor Silvana Agatone found that of over 10,000 gynecologists in Italy, only 1200 performed abortions. She and many other pro-choice doctors are nearing retirement, and she worries about the rise in the numbers of young doctors claiming conscientious objection…
Once a week doctors travel from Milan or Rome to Ascoli Piceno in east central Italy to perform abortions in the city hospital, where there is not a single gynecologist who will perform them.”

Kelly Lang was in high school when she became pregnant. After she went with her sister to get a pregnancy test, and the test came back positive, she told her mother, who forced her to go through with an abortion:
“As my sister had predicted, my mother did not receive the news well- advising me to have an abortion, in part because the love of my life was older than me and I was technically still a minor, being a few weeks shy of eighteen. My mother quickly decided on a course of action. She informed me that I would in fact be going to college, in spite of my pregnancy. She contacted the Wichita clinic and got them to schedule an abortion for me for the next week. She told me that I was not to see my boyfriend until after the procedure was completed. She further informed me that she would drive me to the clinic. After returning home, she would call my boyfriend and tell him to drive to Wichita and bring me home.
I was to pay half of the fee and he was to pay the other half. If I did not agree to her demands, she would have him prosecuted for statutory rape.
Over the next few days, my mother spent more time with me than at any other time in my life. Sadly, this was not because she wanted to share my few moments of pregnancy with me. Rather, it stemmed from a fear that if I were to spend time with my boyfriend, we would find a way to not have the abortion.
No amount of tears changed my mother’s mind. She was determined – and that was that…
The trip to the clinic was filled with pleading and begging. But no amount of pleading touched my mother’s heart. Arriving at the clinic, my mother signed the paperwork handed to her. As we waited for my mane to be called, I tried one last time to sway her, pleading with her, “Please, mom! Please don’t do this.”
The nightmare continued as my name was called and I was led to a small office halfway down a long hallway. The lady behind the desk asked me if I had any questions. As the last word left her mouth, I was on my feet, running down the hallway, throwing open the double waiting room doors – still pleading and begging for mercy. I fell to my knees sobbing. It was then that I felt my arms being pulled upward and I was dragged to a room where my baby was sucked away.
I lived with the consequences of this nightmare for the next 30 years – constantly waking up to the pain, the void, the anger, the depression, the loneliness, and the self-destructive impulses I experience every day. I was convinced that everything that ever went wrong in my life was a punishment for having aborted my baby.”
30 years later, after going to Rachel’s Vineyard, she finally confronted her mother. Kelly says:
“Her comment to me was that she really didn’t remember it. It was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life, and my mom said she didn’t even remember it.”

A este punto el bebé que llevas adentro de tu vientre ha tenido latido de corazón por siete semanas. Él o ella tiene un cerebro que produce ondas cerebrales. Tu bebé responde al estímulo y tendrá reacciones de sorpresa cuando él o ella toca algo. El bebé va a retirarse y va reaccionar cuando los instrumentos de aborto se acercan a él o ella. Algunos científicos creen que él o ella puede sentir el dolor de estar destrozada en pedazos. El bebé puede tener hipo. El bebé ya es diestro o zurdo. Si ella es una niña, ella ya tendrá sus ovarios y su propia matriz. Lo creas o no, él o ella no solamente tiene manos y dedos, sino también huellas. Esas huellas marcan su individualidad única que nunca ha existido antes en la historia y que jamás existirá de nuevo.
Jewels Green trabajo en una clínica de aborto. Su clínica solo proveía abortos de primer trimestre. Ella tomaba las manos de mujeres, viéndolas llorar durante el procedimiento del aborto. Y en el cuarto de atrás, ella se ocupaba de los pedazos rotos de los bebés, sosteniendo los bebés abortados pie arriba contra una pequeña tabla para verificar el tiempo del embrazo para la documentación de la clínica. Aun en el primer trimestre muchos de los bebés ya estaban completamente formados, como en las fotos que acabas de ver. En la página 86-87 del mismo libro, Simonds dice que todos los trabajadores de clínica que ella ha entrevistado le han dicho, “ellos nunca miran a la cara” cuando están procesando el ‘tejido’ de los abortos. Ahorita mismo puede ser que tu sientas miedo, preocupada, y sola. Yo no conozco tu situación, pero lo que si se es que hay lugares donde tú puedes encontrar ayuda. Esos lugares se llaman Crisis Pregnancy Centers (centros de embarazo en crisis). Esos centros existen por todo el mundo. Ellos pueden ayudar con todo tipo de cosas. La que está en mi pueblo provee consejería, ayuda para buscar cuidado médico, un lugar para vivir si la mujer no tiene hogar, ropa de bebé, ropa de maternidad, cunas, pañales, información sobre cómo aplicar por beneficios si tú lo eliges, entrenamiento de trabajo, ayuda conseguir un trabajo, y hasta cuidado infantil por medio de guardarías.
Además, la mayoría de los centros de embarazo en crisis harán un ultrasonido. La mayoría de las clínicas de aborto también harán un ultrasonido, pero te cobrarán por hacerlo. El centro de embarazo en crisis hará uno gratis. Si decides que si quieres un aborto, y tú le dices a la clínica que ya te has hecho un ultrasonido para verificar el punto de gestación del embarazo, es probable que te dirán que no necesitas otro – y te ahorraras unos cien dólares. El centro de embarazo en crisis no te puede obligar no tener un aborto. Nadie puede. El aborto es legal. Pero ellos te pueden dan información sobre los riesgos del aborto y alternativas que quizás no obtendrás de la clínica. Y sobre todo la ayuda del centro de embarazo en crisis es gratis. Mientras una clínica de aborto es un negocio que hace dinero y cobran todo lo que ofrecen. La razón mayor que las clínicas de aborto rechazan a las mujeres y las mandan a su casa no es por problemas de salud si no por la falta de dinero. El dueño de una clínica de aborto le dijo al periódico The Chicago-Sun Times (no dándose cuenta que estaba hablando con un reportero):
Tenemos que vender los abortos. Tenemos que usar toda clase de tatica que podemos usar porque, así como mis otros negocios [compañía de camiones, un negocio de control de contaminación, y una oficina de ventas inmobiliarias] tenemos competencia. Ahora, tenemos que seguir las reglas, pero las reglas tienen que ser infringidas si vamos a llevar a cabo las cosas.
Ex trabajadora de clínica de aborto Nina Whitten dice:
Cada una transacción que hicimos era dinero en efectivo. No podíamos tomar cheques ni tarjeta de crédito. Si no tenías el dinero, olvídalo. No era inusual de ninguna manera que yo llevara $10,000 a $15,000 al día al banco – en efectivo. Es una mentira cuando te dicen que lo están haciendo para ayudar a las mujeres porque la realidad es que no lo están. Ellos lo están haciendo por el dinero.
Las clínicas de aborto solo quedan abiertas cuando ellos hacen dinero. Ellos hasta cobran para los exámenes de embarazo, la mayoría de las veces mucho más de lo pagarías por uno en el supermercado (y es el mismo examen). Ellos no harán dinero si tú te sales de ahí y tengas el bebé. Ya que solo hacen dinero si tu abortas el bebé, ellos quizás no te van informar sobre los riesgos del aborto o que tan desarrollado está el bebé. Quizás ellos no te dirán nada que podría convencerte no tener un aborto. Pero un centro de embarazo en crisis no hace dinero. De cualquier manera, tu decide. Entonces, es más probable que obtengas más información honesta.

Si has tenido un aborto y necesitas apoyo, aquí hay unos links para que pruebes. Hay otras opciones para escoger aparte del aborto. ¿Que de la adopción? Muchas mujeres sienten que no pueden regalar a su bebé. Pero la adopción no es lo mismo como antes. Ahora hay la opción de la adopción abierta, donde tú puedes estar en contacto con la familia que cría a tu hijo y aun ser parte de la vida del niño. Yo tengo una amiga que es terapista, que dice que sus clientes que dan en adopción están mejor emocionalmente que las que deciden el aborto – porque saben que sus bebés están vivos, felices, y no muertos. Otra persona que conozco dio su bebé en adopción a una pareja en Canadá. Ahora ella y la familia son muy cercanos y ella pasa cada navidad con la pareja. Ella tuvo otra hija, con quien se quedó, y las niñas están creciendo como primas. Ella no perdió a su bebé – ella gano una familia.
Por favor, entiende que el aborto puede causar mucho dolor para ti como madre. Muchos estudios grandes en Finlandia, que obtuvieron records médicos de muchos países, encontraron que las mujeres que abortan tienen una probabilidad más alta de necesitar tratamiento psiquiátrico en ambos, cuidado hospitalario y cuidado ambulatorio. También encontraron que la tasa de suicidio para las mujeres que abortan es síes a siete veces más alta que de las que no lo hacen. Para las adolescentes, otro estudio encontró que hay una tasa de suicidio 10 veces más alta. Aquí hay algunos estudios.

Además, hay más de 58 estudios mostrando una conexión entre el aborto y cáncer de seno. Esto es porque los senos empiezan a cambiar en los primeros días del embarazo para prepararse a producir la leche, y no dejan de cambiar hasta el tercer trimestre. Abortar antes del tercer trimestre entonces pone los senos en un estado intermedio, más susceptible, según algunos científicos, al cáncer.
Finalmente, antes de que vayas a una clínica de aborto, lee sobre las experiencias de otras mujeres con el aborto. “Silent No More” colecciona testimonios de mujeres que han tenido abortos. Tiene más de 2000 historias. Si tu lees lo que estas mujeres están diciendo, puede ser que obtengas una idea de cómo es el aborto. Además, si eliges tener un aborto, “Silent No More” puede darte información sobre dónde encontrar grupos de apoyos y otros recursos para mujeres postaborto. Lee lo que otras mujeres están diciendo.

Te perseguirá por el resto de tu vida… Reconoce que, si te haces el aborto, no solamente estas matando a tu bebé, estas matando el hermano/hermana de alguien, el primo/prima de alguien, el nieto/nieta de alguien, la mamá de alguien, el papá de alguien, el vecino de alguien. Reconoce que el aborto está matando niños…”
