When the mother sees that heartbeat….

Julia Dixon, director of the Anderson Crisis Pregnancy Center, on clients seeing an ultrasound:

“Once the mother sees that heartbeat, they realize there is life at conception. I’m not saying every girl that has an ultrasound places their baby up for adoption but that’s the trend we are seeing here.”

Turn the ultrasound screen away from abortion patient, says doctor

“A compassionate and sensitive sonographer should remember to turn the screen away from the plane of view [of the patient].

Staff too may find themselves increasingly disturbed by the repeated visual impact of an aspect of their work that they need to partially deny in order to continue to function optimally and to concentrate on the needs of the women who come to them for help.”

CPC director – 90-95% of women have their babies after seeing ultrasound

Barbara Chishko, executive director of Birth Choice in Oklahoma City, a crisis pregnancy center, said 90 – 95% percent of abortion minded women change their minds about having an abortion after seeing their fetus on an ultrasound.

“They have a developing baby within them. They have been told it is just a blob of tissue, but when they see the ultrasound, they are able to see arms and legs,” she said. “Women understand what is really happening after an ultrasound.”

The clinic operates to give women free access to health care to help them make more empowered decisions about a pregnancy, Chishko said. She thinks the new legislation will reduce the number of abortions. “The bottom line is that (the legislation) will make women think, and that is all we are asking,” she said.

The legislation she is referring to would require doctors to tell women they can get free ultrasounds before their abortions.

Pregnant teen sees baby’s heartbeat on ultrasound, decides not to have abortion

“I went to an abortion clinic in Knoxville, just to talk to them to ask questions to make sure I was pregnant. They did an ultrasound. I think I was three weeks when I went. As soon as I saw her heartbeat I knew then that wasn’t an option. I knew I couldn’t do it.”

Father sees ultrasound of his baby for the first time

A pregnant woman talks about what happened when her ambivalent fiancé, the baby’s father, saw an ultrasound of his baby for the first time:

“My fiancé and I were a lot closer before I found out I was pregnant… We kinda drifted apart. I got him to go to the ultrasound with me, and once he saw it moving around and kicking and stuff, he has been involved ever since!!

He has been 100% supportive, and at my last doctor’s appointment he was excited to go! We heard the heartbeat and I will never forget the look on his face! Try to get the father to go to things like that, it will definitely get him going…”

Ultrasonographer on censoring images

“For 10 years I have been an ultrasonographer and have witnessed the development of pre-born children. I am convinced that if every mother could see her baby on ultrasound, the abortion argument would be over.

A look through the window reveals the true victim of abortion. This is why our presentations are often censored. For example…

In 1990, I testified on fetal development before the House and Senate subcommittee considering the “Freedom of Choice Act.”

I brought an ultrasound videotape of fully formed fetuses as young as eight weeks after conception. Representative Don Edwards (his D – CA) tried to prevent me from showing the videotape.”

Today, pro-choicers fight tooth and nail against allowing women the option to see their babies on ultrasounds in abortion clinics.  Pro-choice organizations don’t just fight laws REQUIRING women to view the images, they  fight just as hard against laws that say an abortion provider must offer the woman a CHOICE whether or not to see them. Even offering women a CHOICE to view an ultrasound is against Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America’s agenda.

Pregnant 17-year-old sees ultrasound of her baby, chooses life

Stephanie Monegro, a 17-year-old New Yorker, was two months pregnant and seeking an abortion. She went to a crisis pregnancy center by mistake.  The counselor showed her her baby on an ultrasound screen.

“She said I would always regret it. [abortion]. [Then] I saw my first sonogram of the baby, and I burst into tears. I thought: Why would I want to kill something that’s living?”

Woman sees ultrasound, realizes she’s pregnant with “a little person”

From a woman who was being tested to see if her baby had down syndrome or another  handicap; she had been considering abortion if the baby was discovered to be disabled. She’s describing what she saw on the ultrasound:

“I was on this incredible high, like I saw the head and the little shoulders and then I came home and I suddenly crashed because I thought, there was this little person, I mean, it looked like a little person.

And I was more upset than I’d ever been because what would I do? You know, would I have an abortion? Because here I’ve seen it, and it looks like a little person.”

“I would not have had an abortion if I’d seen a sonogram”

A bill in Texas that would require clinics to give women a chance to see their ultrasound was passed in 2011. Some postabortion women support the bill. For example, Nona Ellington of Texas says:

“I would not have had an abortion if I had seen a sonogram and heard the baby’s heartbeat,”

From the writer of the article:

“Ellington has also said in public testimony that her abortion led her to depression and suicide attempts, and that because of the damage done to her body by the abortion, she was never able to conceive.”

Seeing the sonogram: what does a woman lose?

Pro-lifer Kristen Walker, defending laws that allow women to view the sonogram before they have their abortions:

“Let’s say a woman sees a sonogram, hears a heartbeat, and says, “Oh wow, I didn’t realize this was really a baby I was going to destroy. I don’t want to have an abortion now.”

Who loses in that case? The woman goes away happy because she is going to keep her baby. The baby, needless to say, is certainly better off. Who loses, and what does he or she lose?

The abortion doctor and the clinic lose. And what do they lose? Money. Nothing else.

They have not been harmed in any way, except they will not be performing that abortion. The woman, on the other hand, has gained a child she would not have had. The child has gained a life he would have lost.”
