Abortionist: we terminate some babies, fight to save others

One abortionist talked about fighting to save the lives of wanted premature babies while aborting a baby of the same age (or nearly the same age) in another part of the hospital:

”It makes us all schizophrenic. Nowadays we are asked to terminate a pregnancy that in two weeks doctors on the same floor are fighting to save.”

Dr. Richard Hausknecht, an associate clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Mount Sinai Hospital who specializes in high risk pregnancies.

Clinic worker; Abortion part of “rich texture of people’s lives”

From an abortion clinic worker:

I feel abortion is part of life… I could just as easily work in a fertility clinic as an abortion clinic, or in an adoption agency, because it is all part of the rich texture of people’s lives.”

She completely misses the point that abortion kills a baby.

Abortion doctor: “I hate Christians”

Author Joan Pendergast wrote about a conversation with a practicing abortionist that a friend related to her:

“During the course of the evening a surgeon friend of ours at the party told me something very sad. He talked about an abortion doctor he knew who recently told him: “I hate Christians because they know they are forgiven, and I know God will never forgive me for what I do.”

Abortionist won’t do late term abortions

Dr. John Franklin, Medical director of Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania, supports late term abortion being legal but doesn’t perform them himself. He say:

“I find them pretty heavy weather both for myself and for my patients.”

D&E prevents live birth, says abortionist

“According to a medical abortionist with experience in employing the D&E method on victims as old as 26 weeks beyond conception, taking one’s time and exercising care ensure that “you’re not going to end up with a live birth.”

“I feel like I’m killing my baby”

Peg Johnston, who worked at Southern Tier Women’s Services, an abortion clinic, in Binghamton, NY:

“I don’t know if I just started getting bored with Operation Rescue, but I definitely started to get interested in what women were saying instead.”

She’d sit in on a counseling session with a woman who’d say,

“I feel like I’m killing my baby.”

At first, she said, she assumed that the patients were simply repeating what they’d heard outside, having internalized right-wing disinformation that Johnston needed to “correct.” Then she says:

“once I began listening more intently to her, I learned that she wasn’t saying what the picketer was saying–although she used the same words. Frequently [abortion patients]  were already mothers and they knew a time when, at that same stage of pregnancy, they had welcomed the life and felt like it was their baby. They weren’t mouthing an anti-choice message–they were acknowledging that this was serious stuff. How can I want one kid and not the other?”

Parents given the chance to hold their aborted babies

Dr. Renata Laxova, at the University of Wisconsin, provided abortions to couples whose babies would be disabled if born. She says:

“Parents are asked if they wish to see, hold the fetus (frequently they do), and whether they wish to receive photographs as well as copies of the autopsy report. After discharge, communication is maintained to provide and ensure support during the grieving process.”

Renata Laxova “Prenatal Diagnosis of Genetic Diseases” Comprehensive Therapy 6 (December 1980) 74

Quoted in William Brennan The Abortion Holocaust: Today’s Final Solution (St. Louis, Missouri, 1983)

Dr. George Tiller also allowed women to take photographs with their dead aborted babies. Since most fetal health problems are not detected until the second trimester, these are usually late term abortions.

Abortionist tells of patient who blackmailed him

Dr. Bertran Wainer, abortionist:wk14

“I remember one woman said to me that if I didn’t perform the operation she would go home and do it herself (she was a Catholic nurse) and that if it went wrong then I would be to blame. I had point-blank refused to perform the operation. Confronted with that sort of emotional blackmail I immediately said yes. All my patients receive a consumer evaluation form to send back two weeks after the abortion. It asks various questions such as “Do you regret the decision?” And other questions of that nature. The Catholic nurse wrote that she was a bloody murderer and that I was one too. She wrote in red ink and said that God would punish us both.”

“I never had any psychological adverse reaction except the occasional feeling that one was destroying life.”
