Planned Parenthood records show that abortion is traumatic

“Recently, pro-life workers in Houston discovered several thousand clinic visit records, medical charts, internal minutes, and memoranda, letters, confidential surveys, and financial statements in the trash of a Planned Parenthood abortuary.”

[They discovered]

“More than a 3rd of the medical charts recorded “severe” or “very severe pain” for the women during their abortion procedures. Almost 5% of the women were said to have “screamed” during their operations. Another 11% “cried,” 10% “overreacted,” and 5% “complained.” Almost 10% experienced “nausea” or “vomiting,” and another 10% “fainted” or “fell unconscious.”

One chart described blatantly unsterile operating procedures. Another detailed the doctor’s brutal and abusive behavior. Still another called into question the racial motivations of the clinic personnel.”

This comes from Robert Ruff Aborting Planned Parenthood (Houston: New Vision Books, 1988) pages 92 – 96. It was quoted by George Grant in Grand Illusions: the Legacy of Planned Parenthood (Franklin, Tennessee: Adroit Press, 1988, 1992.

Planned Parenthood horribly botches abortion

Pro-lifer George Grant interviewed a woman who had complications after her abortion at Planned Parenthood:

“Caroline was 22 when she had her first abortion. 8 months later, she had another. “The first one seemed to go just fine,” she told me. “There was a little bleeding, and some pain for the next few weeks. Nothing serious, though.”

But it was serious. That became readily apparent when she went in for the 2nd abortion. “There was quite a bit of scar tissue in my cervix. The physician seemed hesitant at first, but decided to go ahead with the procedure.”

That was not the last mistake that the doctor would make that day. His sharp, blindly wielded curette inadvertently perforated Carolyn’s already scarred cervix. When he inserted the suction apparatus, it passed through to the body cavity. The shearing force of the suction than seriously lacerated the bladder and tore loose the right ureter – the tube that carries urine from the kidneys to the bladder. The delicate parametrium and parametrium membranes were ruptured and a pooling hematoma surrounded the entire right renal system.

Completely unaware of the damage he had caused, the doctor finished the procedure, sent Caroline to the recovery room, and turned his attention to other matters. After a 45 minute rest, he released her.

“I collapsed on the subway on my way home. I think I was in shock,” she said. She was suffering from a lot more than shock. An emergency room examination revealed heavy hemorrhaging and leakage of urine per vaginam. Attendants rushed her into the operating room where surgeons reluctantly performed an emergency right nephrectomy and oophorectomy – the removal of the right kidney and ovary. They also evacuated the hematoma and resection the torn endometrium.

“I spent about 10 days in the hospital after that,” she told me as we walked past the Juilliard toward the Hudson River. Those 10 days had cost her a place in the school’s renowned drama department. “But the worst was still yet to come.”

Over the next several weeks, Caroline suffered from recurring abdominal pain, high fever, vaginal discharge, and abnormal bleeding. She was scheduled for both a cystoscopy and a laparoscopy and was once again admitted to the hospital. The exploratory surgeries revealed that a portion of the fetal skull had been embedded into the resected intra-abdominal tissue. They also revealed a severe pelvic inflammation caused by bacteria from the mangled renal system.

“The doctor said that I had no choice but to undergo a complete hysterectomy.” Tears began to well up in her eyes. “I was only 22. My whole life was ahead of me. I was happy. Carefree. And then this… Well, I just couldn’t believe that this was actually happening to me.”

The next day, the doctors removed Caroline’s remaining ovary, along with her uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, and lymph glands. She would never again be able to bear children.

“The counselors at Planned Parenthood told me that abortion was the only responsible choice in my situation,” she said. “Now look at me. My health is broken. My career is ruined. My emotions are shot. And the only 2 children I will ever bear are dead and gone.”

Pres. of Planned Parenthood calls National Right to Life member a sociopath

Gloria Feldt, then Pres. of Planned Parenthood, described how she was asked to go on television after the murder of Dr. Barnett Slepian by an antiabortionist assassin.

“After Slepian’s murder, I was asked to appear on a network TV show to discuss the killing and its implications. I was told it would not be a debate. And how could it possibly be a debate? Is there “other side” to the issue of cold-blooded murder?

But by air time, the host had found a representative from the National Right to Life committee to oppose me. “To be fair,” she explained… Fairness, my eye. Would you have gay bashers on to “debate” the murder of Matthew Shepard? Give Al Qaeda operatives airtime to present their views in defense of the bombing of the World Trade Center? Sociopaths don’t deserve this kind of attention.”

Gloria Feldt the War on Choice: The Right-Wing Attack on Women’s Rights and How to Fight Back (New York: Bantam Dell, 2004) 184

Every single known pro-life group condemned the murder of Doctor Slepian by a lone abortion fanatic. National Right to Life is completely unaffiliated with any type of violence and had nothing to do with the murder. Feldt’s comparison of a National Right to Life representative to “gay bashers” and “sociopaths” is the worst kind of rhetoric demonizing pro-lifers.

Especially considering that babies like the one below represent the cause of the pro-choice movement. Planned Parenthood performed hundreds such abortions on the day of the debate.

President of Women’s Rights without Frontiers describes horrific abuses in China

At a congressional subcommittee on forced abortion in China, Missy Reggie Littlejohn, founder and president, Women’s Rights without Frontiers, said the following:

“In this report we have cases of forced abortion, one woman at 8 months, another woman forcibly aborted with twins at 8 and a-half months; forced sterilization; forced contraception. And these forced contraceptions are not simply the installation of IUDs, which can be very painful, and even, as the witnesses have said today, these IUDs can be installed even though there are medical complications that counterindicate such an installation. But people – the lack of an IUD is used as an excuse for family planning cadres to come in and beat people. I have got a case in here where somebody’s mother-in-law literally had her hand almost broken in half because her daughter-in-law supposedly didn’t have an IUD.

We have got pictures of family-planning police. It looks like a military regiment; family planning jail cells; the demolition of homes, even by relatives. There is a woman here who missed a pregnancy check, and her own relatives were forced to demolish her home. We have pictures on that.

This report also contains accounts of a couple who were brutally tortured because the woman missed her pregnancy check by one day. She was one day late. A man whose head was smashed open and who is now permanently disabled because his wife had a 2nd child. I will show this briefly. But this report is filled with photographs like this. And a father who was beaten to death because it’s on the suspected of having a 2nd child…

Last year, crematorium workers in Guangdong Province found in infant crying in a medical waste receptacle on the way to the crematorium. When they opened it, they found a little baby boy who had cotton stuffed down his throat. Horrified, they sent that baby boy back to the hospital, perfectly healthy, and then that boy was returned to them later that day [dead] without an explanation of the cause of death.

In a separate incident, Xinhua reported that 21 bodies of fetuses and babies were found discarded in a river in East China last year. Xinhua News stated, “The bodies may have been dumped by cleaners from local hospitals after abortions induced labor. Such dead bodies are treated as medical waste by hospitals.”…

I asked organizations like UNFPA and International Planned Parenthood, if they truly stand for choice, if they truly stand for women’s reproductive rights and women’s reproductive health, how come they aren’t jumping up and down about forced sterilization in China?

For example, there was a 20 day campaign launched April 7 of 2010 in Puning City, Guandong Province, aimed to sterilize 9559 people, and they detained 1300 people in that forced sterilization campaign. That campaign was publicized in the London Times. Everybody knew about it. Where was UNFPA? Where was IPPF when this was going on, if they truly are promoting voluntarism in China?

Implication. Now, that is something new that I learned researching this report. The practice of implication means if one person is a violator of the one child policy, then their entire extended family is implicated or punished. So, for example, if I were illegally pregnant, my husband, my parents, his parents, our grandparents, our aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, the entire extended family can have their homes destroyed. In this one incident, Case 12 in Fujian Robin, family-planning officials beat a father to death on the suspicion that his son might have a 2nd child. That is implication.

Then, in another case, the extended family were all dragged into something called the Family-Planning Learning Center, and they were tortured for days on end, and then they were charged tuition, which also brings up the issue of corruption, which I think is a major driving force behind keeping the one child policy in place. People are making a lot of money off this…

Recently, just this year in Linyi County, there was a man who was murdered by family-planning police. They had come to seize his sister for forced abortion. She wasn’t home, so they started beating his father. So when he tried to defend his father one of the family-planning officials just took a knife and stabbed him in the chest, and he died. And these things happen with impunity. People are not prosecuted. They are not held accountable. I would say that really the spirit of the red guard lives on in the family-planning police.”

Abortionist sees heartbeat of baby on ultrasound screen

“And typically when the abortion procedure is started we typically know that the fetus is still alive because either we can feel it move as we’re making our initial grasps or if we’re using some ultrasound visualization when we actually see a heartbeat as we’re starting the procedure.”

This account of D&E abortion procedure is part of sworn testimony given in US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin (Madison, WI, May 27, 1999, Case No. 98-C-0305-S), by Dr. Martin Haskell, an abortionist

“I would not have had an abortion if I’d seen a sonogram”

A bill in Texas that would require clinics to give women a chance to see their ultrasound was passed in 2011. Some postabortion women support the bill. For example, Nona Ellington of Texas says:

“I would not have had an abortion if I had seen a sonogram and heard the baby’s heartbeat,”

From the writer of the article:

“Ellington has also said in public testimony that her abortion led her to depression and suicide attempts, and that because of the damage done to her body by the abortion, she was never able to conceive.”

Woman has multiple abortions so that she can perform

One woman had several abortions because she was an actress and didn’t want to be pregnant and have to take a leave of absence from the shows she was performing in. She says:

“It’s always been unfortunate that every time I’ve been pregnant I’ve always been involved in a show, and that always takes priority… [Before I had the 2nd abortion] I went to see a show which I liked, it was very physical and I thought, “I’d like to do something like that, maybe I’ll do a street show.” And then I thought, “oh no! You’ll be 8 months pregnant by then, and it went pow! In my head. It was that night I made the decision.”

Mary Pipes Understanding Abortion (London: The Women’s Press, 1998) 49 – 50

Most abortions are performed between 7 and 12 weeks. Here is a picture of part of the baby aborted at 7 weeks. This is what her decisions have destroyed.

Seeing the sonogram: what does a woman lose?

Pro-lifer Kristen Walker, defending laws that allow women to view the sonogram before they have their abortions:

“Let’s say a woman sees a sonogram, hears a heartbeat, and says, “Oh wow, I didn’t realize this was really a baby I was going to destroy. I don’t want to have an abortion now.”

Who loses in that case? The woman goes away happy because she is going to keep her baby. The baby, needless to say, is certainly better off. Who loses, and what does he or she lose?

The abortion doctor and the clinic lose. And what do they lose? Money. Nothing else.

They have not been harmed in any way, except they will not be performing that abortion. The woman, on the other hand, has gained a child she would not have had. The child has gained a life he would have lost.”

Clinic director complains about lack of pro-choice commitment in young people

Florida clinic director Michelle Fortier laments the fact that many young people are pro-life or are otherwise not committed to the pro-choice cause:

“The problem that I have is with people who are younger than me, the things that would come out of their mouths were completely ridiculous… I think a lot of people who are younger than me tend to be more conservative, which is really bizarre.”
