The type of abortion described in this quote is a D&E, performed on unborn babies that are beyond 14 weeks. Here is a more detailed description of a D&E by a former abortionist

Sarah, I have just read your article about Christians not seeing you as a sister in the fight against abortion. I am a post abortive woman who, like you, understand the destruction wrought on both the mother and her child by abortion. I am so glad you are fighting for the little ones who have no voice and the women, who are lied to,and many times coerced by boyfriends, husbands,& family members to abort their child. We cannot do this without all men & women of good will. Don’t confuse the Christian faith with people that are christians.Christians do not become miraculously “saintly” when they become christian. We sin, we judge,we fail our brothers & sisters in this world. Forgive us.We are only human too. I am Catholic.(don’t hold it against me! :D) Julie
I read Sarah Terzo’s article “I’m a Pro-Life Atheist but the Pro-Life Movement is Shutting me Out”. and then I came to check out this website which seems excellent. I am a Catholic Christian involved in the Pro-Life movement (Sidewalk counselor), and I want to thank Sarah for her article.
I have experienced that sometimes Pro-Life Christians have “blind-spots”. There is no reason that people of good-will can’t work together on shared goals despite disagreements in other areas.
Sarah, thank you for all the excellent work that you are doing, and I understand that even though you may not believe in God, I will remember you in my prayers, and please don’t give up on what you are doing because of some bonehead Christians. You are welcome to email me if you choose to do so just to say hello. You might contact Abby Johnson (abbyjohnson.org), also a Christian, who, I know is a friend of Shawn Carney’s, and, although I don’t know her personally, I would guess that she would agree with me on this issue.
Thank you for your kind words. I’m glad you found my website, I hope you can find it useful.
