OB/GYN Talks About Abortion’s Emotional Harm

Marvin E Eastland, a practicing OB/GYN, commented on a program which discussed the trauma suffered by women having abortions:

“I am an obstetrician and gynecologist and have had many dealings with this very situation in my practice.… I have had patients who had abortions before coming to see me. These people are the most miserable. My heart goes out to the woman who is suffering so much from the decision she has made years before. Many are seeing me because they are now infertile.

The guilt expressed is tremendous… They grieve when, if they do conceive and then hear the baby’s heartbeat with the ultrasonic instruments, they realize that the abortion they had previously was likewise a tiny baby with a heartbeat. The trauma they experienced is overwhelming. The act of the abortion is not just the removal of pregnancy tissue from the uterus. There is more, much more, to the procedure than the pro-abortion counselors ever tell the person who is trying to make a decision. Once done, the damage is very difficult to live with.”

Planned Parenthood: Children Are a Nuisance

“[Children at our office] are both a nuisance and a safety/liability risk. Children will not be allowed in any patient service area, and they may not be left unattended in the waiting room. If a client arrives with a child or children but without a caretaker, her appointment will be rescheduled. For obvious public relations reasons, we will not be posting the policy, but we need to translate it into a message that can be given to patients when making an appointment over the phone.”

On Abortion and Human Development

Edward R Frizell, M.D., PhD:

21 weeks – legal to abort in most states

“Pro-Abortion views regarding human development err in that they fail to grasp the facts as a whole. Their approach to human development typifies people who either have a very superficial knowledge of embryology or base their beliefs on the opinions of healthcare professionals who profit from performing abortions… It is essential to understand that science does not use developmental landmarks to “bestow” humanity… Human development is continuous process that begins with fertilization and ends with death… The presence or absence of a feature during human development allows us to say that an individual human being is more or less developed, but not more or less human.”

Edward R Frizell, M.D., PhD The Providence Evening Bulletin, 6/15/92

Abortionist Troubled by Late Abortions- But Not for “Emotional” Reasons

Dr. Martin Haskell says he has qualms about third trimester abortions

“only for technical reasons, not for emotional reasons of fetal development. I think it’s important to distinguish the two.”

Dr. Haskell performs abortions up to 25 weeks and later. He says that 80% of them are elective (not health related)

Professor Noam Chomsky Weighs in on Abortion

“Pretty soon you can imagine legislation prohibiting the washing of hands because thousands of cells are flaked off that could be turned into a stem cell and you can grow a foetus – so you’re killing a person. It’s attacks on women’s rights.”

Raped and Pregnant: the Story of Irene van der Wende

The pro-life group Live Action published the story of a woman who became pregnant as a result of rape had an abortion. Years later, she found out that she herself had been conceived in rape and that her mother had considered committing suicide while pregnant with her.

Irene was raped when she was in her 20s and found that she was pregnant Here is part of Irene’s testimony:

“When my doctor informed me that I was pregnant, I was in shock. It felt as though the legs had been sawn off from under my chair, as if I was falling into a deep abyss. In a whirlwind of events, I ended up in an abortion clinic, but the counselor said I was too far along. I was on the verge of it being allowed to be done legally.”….

I will never forget the sound of the old creaking heavy wooden door, the black and white checkered tiles, and as I was waiting to sign papers, I watched the big clock at the far end of the room, the minutes ticking away to the death of my child. There was an ominous atmosphere, as if death hung in a cloud in the air. I was petrified. The imprints, the sounds, the images, stay with me to this day. In a side room, with some six other women…waiting for our turn, the women were laughing and giggling, and asking each other why they were having it done. …

I started thinking about my situation. I realized I was a mother, with a baby inside me, regardless of how she got there. But when I said this to the nurse who came to collect me, she patted me on the shoulder and said, ‘There there now. You all say that at the last minute – you’re doing the right thing’.

….

The abortionist started yelling at me, and I froze…in sheer panic and terror. … With feet in the stirrups, legs tied, and arms outstretched, also tied, I felt like we were sheep about to be slaughtered. Already having gone through rape, this was horrendous. This is what women’s lib thought was okay? I lost consciousness and awoke to now be the mother of a dead baby, a nightmare that would follow me the rest of my life. The pain was horrendous. The women who had been so chirpy at first, were now all groaning and in tears and crying out to God to forgive them, others crying out ‘my baby!’ while others cried that they were so sorry.

Irene kept this terrible experience to herself for many years, but, according to the article, Mother’s Day was particularly hard as she remembered the baby that she had lost. When she found out that she had been conceived in rape, she regretted having an abortion even more:

It is a sore realization that I did not give my daughter that opportunity. I wish I could turn the clock back, but of course I can’t. But I can now help educate. I often would think how old she would have been now, but couldn’t handle the emotions, so I would stuff it further. When I eventually was able to forgive the rapist, I found it difficult to forgive myself for what I had done. The father (rapist) harmed me, but I harmed my own baby – she was my own flesh and blood.

Planned Parenthood Lies About 6-8 Week Old Fetus

Live-action presented video where Planned Parenthood counselor discusses abortion with a woman who was 6-8 weeks pregnant:

6-7 weeks

patient: what comes out?

PP: well, you’d miscarry at home so the entire – whatever fetal matter is there.

Patient: so you see the baby?

PP: There’s not a baby at this point. You wouldn’t be able to identify any part of the fetus whatsoever.

Patient: What’s a fetus?

PP:  The fetus is the developing embryo inside of you. But at this point there’s nothing developed at all. There’s no legs, no arms, no head, no brain, no heart. At this point is just the embryo itself.”

Nurse Practitioner Hides Ultrasound from Woman Considering Abortion

A woman who has having an ultrasound revealed:

As the nurse practitioner prepared me for an ultrasound, she asked if I was thinking about terminating the pregnancy. I told her I was, so she turned the ultrasound screen away from me, and began moving the wand over my stomach.

Caitlin Coakley Beckner “IT HAPPENED TO ME: I DIDN’T KNOW I WAS PREGNANT (FOR SIX MONTHS)” XOJANE July 1, 2012

It turned out that the author was 24 weeks along, too far for an abortion (in her area-some clinics DO perform them after 24 weeks) This article is evidence that some healthy women have late term abortions because they don’t know they are pregnant sooner.

Measuring Fetal Feet

feet of aborted baby at 10 weeks

From former clinic worker Jewels Green:

“ For anyone familiar with what goes on with human remains after an abortion, foot length is quite important. Measuring the foot of the deceased is the most accurate way to determine fetal age post-mortem. Tiny feet were measured beside me more times than I can count. Measuring tiny feet was how abortion facilities matched pre-abortion estimates of fetal age with the reality after death. The age determined by the measurement of the tiny feet was the age put on the forms that I completed for the state Department of Health abortion statistics.”
