Father fails to stop abortion, mourns the loss of his aborted child

A man who got his girlfriend pregnant saw his baby on the ultrasound screen at a crisis pregnancy center:

 “Our child was at 8 weeks gestation and had fingers, toes, eyes, everything. I saw and heard my child’s heart beat and I cried. It was a very overwhelming and beautiful experience for me, until she looked over at me and said: “What are you crying about? Worms have heartbeats too”

The woman decided to have an abortion:

Her sister had offered to pay $500 for her to get an abortion. She insisted she was going to get the abortion, was planning to get one that weekend, and broke up with me right before.

I called the abortion clinic and asked what my rights were; they said “You don’t have any”. I then asked them, “What do you do with the aborted babies? I want to bury my child”. They told me that it wasn’t a child, it was a fetus, and to never call again or they would involve the police. My hands were tied. I, as a father had no legal right to protect my child from a death committed by a “doctor”. I called everyone imaginable to see what my rights were and I got the same answer: “nothing”.

The week before my child was aborted; I went to try one more time to ask the mother of my child to not do this. But she was adamant about having an abortion, and told me to leave. So I then asked her if I could do one thing before I left, she told me that was fine. I then got on my knees and kissed the stomach of the mother of my child and said “I love you, and Daddy will see you in heaven”. I then took the ultrasound pictures and left.

He says:

The day my child was aborted was a very painful day for me. I was informed that my child had been aborted in the afternoon on December 2nd, 2006. It was the most painful experience I have ever been through. My relationship ended with the woman that I thought I was going to marry, and I lost my first child. I didn’t want to go on; I was in too much pain. I didn’t eat. I didn’t sleep. I had nightmares of my child being aborted. The day after my child was aborted, I went to see my pastor and he suggested that I have a memorial for my unborn child. I took his advice, and had one the following Sunday at his church. I had my parents and a few friends come. It was a short ceremony, but very painful. I never thought that my child would meet God before I did.

After that day things were still very painful. I still couldn’t sleep or eat, and thoughts of suicide filled my head every waking hour. I joined Bible studies, and post abortion Bible studies as much as possible. Those were the only people that would understand. There were times that I wouldn’t even receive support at church. A man is really not allowed to grieve the loss of his unborn baby. I was told things like: “Your child wasn’t even born, so get over it”, “It wasn’t a baby yet”, or even people saying “Your child deserved to die”. None of those things helped me heal and just put me in more of a state of depression.

On the day of his child’s due date, he went to New York to reach out to couples having abortions. He says he helped save 100 babies.  He is now involved in the pro-life movement.

Mother from rape: the world is a better place with my daughter in it

Shauna Prewitt, a mother whose daughter was conceived in rape, loves her daughter. She says that when she f0und out she was pregnant:

You see, to my surprise, I did not altogether hate the life growing inside of me. Instead, I felt a sort of kinship, a partnership – perhaps the kind that only develops between those who have suffered together – but, nevertheless, I felt a bond.

She describes telling her daughter how she was conceived:

It’s the question [from my daughter] that I had been dreading for almost nine years. So I just told her, I said, ‘you know, baby, sometimes we’re forced to do things that we just don’t want to do.’ She just started sobbing at that point. After crying for a little bit she said mommy, I am just so sorry that that happened to you. But at least you have me.

Prewitt says:

I think this world would be a much worse place without my little girl in it. I think the world needs more people like her.

Survey shows people don’t know when abortion is legal

In a poll, people were asked when abortion was legal. Nearly all of them gave the wrong answers.

This is what the poll found:

49% of people surveyed think that abortion is illegal after 7 weeks

76% think abortion is illegal in the 2nd trimester and beyond

93% think abortion is illegal in the third trimester.

11% think abortion is illegal after the unborn implants on the uterine wall

CSUN Survey Results: Abortions until What Point in Pregnancy? Stand To Reason November 10, 2006

In reality, abortion is legal before 20 weeks in nearly every state, up to 24 – 26 weeks in some states, and in a few states, all the way up until birth. In New Jersey, for example, abortions can be legally done on the mother’s due date, even if the baby and mother are healthy.  The baby can be killed as long as she is in the womb, regardless of how far along the mother is.

The preborn baby implants in the uterine wall only a few days after conception, before the mother even knows she is pregnant.

Pro-Choicers threw urine on pro-lifers

Abortionist Dr. William Harrison on what was done to pro-life protesters and sidewalk counselors outside his clinic:

“While I definitely did not encourage it, young people began to curse our pickets, several of whom had buckets of urine, and worse, thrown on them as they prepared to listen to a group of smiling young people who seemed to have slowed to tell them how much they supported what they were doing….

On rainy days, water was splashed on them as they stood on the narrow sidewalk in front of my office. In winter, they were splashed with slush. Their churches began to lose members. The ministers in other churches began to speak in support of me and what I do. My community began to seriously support what I did….I was supported by the mayor, the city board, police, the courts, the prosecutors and judges simply because they did their jobs.”

Mother of mentally challenged son speaks out

From the mother of a developmentally delayed child:

“As the parent of a disabled child, I have experienced firsthand the transformed perspective on life possible when one is given the opportunity to live with those who confound our expectations, who have too much or too little of a range of expected human traits, who experience life in a way that must remain opaque to the majority of normally functional human beings.

What my parents’ generation would have called Declan’s “mental retardation,” we termed his “developmental disabilities.”

But what was neither retarded nor disabled was an infectious enthusiasm for life which illuminated any interaction with him, an ability to give and receive love that was uncomplicated by the egoism, self-awareness, or self-consciousness of a “typical” child.

Parenting this child forced us to reconsider our conception of what qualities and capacities made life worth living; they joy my son clearly took in life and the joy he gave us compelled such a reevaluation.”

Doctor manipulates woman into abortion to avoid lawsuit

Pro-Life activist Mark Crutcher told one woman’s story:

“…we worked with a woman from Virginia who told us she had been trying to get pregnant for several years and her OB/GYN was fully aware of this. She said that when she finally became pregnant, she was stunned to find him aggressively pushing her to abort, saying her baby had problems that were “incompatible with life” and that giving birth might also kill her.

This went on for days but, despite the pressure this physician and his staff were exerting on her, she made it clear that she would never consider an abortion. At that point, the doctor began calling her at home and criticizing her for being insensitive to the pain her baby was going to needlessly suffer. He also began calling her husband at work telling him that his child was already doomed and that, unless an abortion was performed, he may also lose his wife. After many days of pressure from both a doctor and her husband, the woman reluctantly gave in and had the abortion.

An independent pathology report done after the abortion identified her child as a “completely normal fetus with no indications of health problems.” Upon learning this, the woman went into a deep depression and soon afterward she and her husband divorced. She eventually developed severe psychological problems, became suicidal, and had to be placed in a lockdown psychiatric hospital.

What her attorney discovered was that, two weeks prior to her pregnancy being diagnosed, she had come to the same doctor with flu–like symptoms. Her medical records showed that, not only was no pregnancy test performed, but she was never even asked if she might be pregnant. The chart also showed that the doctor gave her a prescription for a drug that its manufacturer says should never be given to pregnant women because it can cause severe birth defects. When she returned two weeks later and her pregnancy was diagnosed, a nurse recognized what had happened and warned the doctor this may have led to the patient’s baby being handicapped.

We were able to establish a timeline showing that this was the point at which the doctor and his staff began coercing the woman to have the abortion. As we reviewed this case further, three revealing things jumped out at us. First, no tests were conducted to determine whether the baby actually had any problems, and second, nothing in the file indicated that continuing the pregnancy posed a risk to the woman.

The third thing was that, even though the doctor was a board-certified OB/GYN and fully capable of doing the abortion himself, he insisted that the patient pick out an independent abortion clinic on her own and have it performed there. Obviously, this was done to ensure that if any legal action ensued as a result of the way the pregnancy was handled, the doctor would have a second defendant to the point that finger at. In legal terms, this is called “contributory negligence” and asserting it is a common tactic used by defense attorneys in medical malpractice cases where more than one entity is involved.

These issues, combined with other details about the way this woman was treated, made it undeniable that she was browbeaten into this abortion in order to eliminate the physician’s exposure to a lawsuit.”

In 1933, most abortionists were doctors

A 1933 book by a well-respected surgeon claimed that most illegal abortionists were doctors:

“In 1933 Dr. Abraham J. Rongy, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, described the physician as “the chief agent of abortion” the one who “flouts the law.”

In experiment aborted baby lived 5 hours

In the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, there was an article about a baby who was aborted alive and attached to an artificial placenta. The baby lived for 5 hours.

From the article:

“Irregular gasping movements, twice a minute, occurred in the middle of the experiment, but there was no proper respiration. Once the perfusion was stopped, however, the gasping respiratory efforts increased to 8 to 10 per minute. The fetus died 21 minutes after leaving the circuit.”

In 1944 most illegal abortionists were doctors

Pro-Choice activists claim abortion was legalized to protect women, who they say were dying by the thousands due to back alley abortions. In reality, the vast majority of illegal abortions were done by doctors.  The following quote. made at a medical conference in 1944, attests to this:

“Although the performing of abortions has been forbidden to physicians since the time of Hippocrates, nevertheless the abortionist is drawn principally from the ranks of this profession.”

Legal Abortion Death: Patty, 16 (embolism and bleeding)

Sixteen-year-old Patty underwent a safe and legal second-trimester abortion at the hands of either Edward Allred or Leslie Orleans at Allred’s Avalon Hospital in Los Angeles on the morning of March 3, 1984. Patty retained fetal tissues, so she was scheduled for a second procedure that afternoon to complete the abortion.

There are conflicting stories as to what happened next. Allred claimed that Patty died of an embolism during the second surgery. (He pronounced her dead at 4:30 PM.) Patty’s parents claim that the child bled to death while left unattended.

An autopsy found numerous catgut sutures in Patty’s vagina and hemorrhage in her uterus. Death was attributed to disseminated intravascular coagulopathy (a clotting disorder) due to abortion-induced amniotic fluid embolism (amniotic fluid in the bloodstream). Patty’s parents sued Allred and Orleans for their daughter’s death.

Avalon Hospital was part of Edward Allred’s Family Planning Associates Medical Group, a National Abortion Federation member facility.

Patricia is one of many women to die at one of Edward Allred’s facilities. Others known to have died after abortion at Allred’s facilities include:

* Denise Holmes, age 24, 1970
* Mary Pena, age 43, 1984
* Josefina Garcia, age 37, 1985
* Laniece Dorsey, age 17, 1986
