It’s a Person’s Right to Choose

“What we are saying is that abortion becomes one of the choices, and the person has the right to choose whatever it is that is best that they need as necessary and best for them in that situation for which they find themselves, be it abortion, to keep, to adopt, to sell, to leave in a dumpster, to put on your porch, whatever: it’s the person’s right to choose.”

Esther Langston, professor of Social Work, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Public debate on abortion at the campus of the University of Nevada, at the Hendrix Auditorium December 4, 1989. As recorded by Mark Wiegand (Quoted in Francis J. Beckwith “Politically Correct Death: Answering the Arguments for Abortion Rights” (Grand Rapids, Michigan: Baker Books, 1993) p 174)

Abortion Is a Tremendously Positive Experience

“Why must so many defenders of abortion always present it in negative terms and never talk about how, for some women, the decision to have an abortion is a tremendously positive experience, even if an unplanned pregnancy is not a prospect to be welcomed in itself?”

Pro-choice author Janet Hadley “Abortion: between Freedom and Necessity” (Great Britain: Virago Press) 1996 p 164

Pro-Choice In Action

Pro-choice author Barbara Ehrenreich:

“A woman may think of her fetus as a person or just cells depending on whether the pregnancy is wanted or not. This does not reflect moral confusion, but choice in action.”

Cited by John Leo in “the Moral Complexity of Choice” U.S. News & World Report, December 11, 1989, 64

Abortion Is Never Wrong, Says Pro-Choicer

“I don’t think abortion is ever wrong. As long as an individual is completely dependent on the mother, it’s not a person.”

Not Everyone Is Meant to Be Born

“Not everybody is meant to be born. I believe, for a baby, life begins when his mother wants him.”

Unwanted Children an Abortion

“Unwantedness” may be regarded as a major complication of pregnancy, with surgical intervention in the form of abortion as the indicated treatment rather than medical management, as would be the case with a wanted pregnancy.”

Christian Doctor Performs Abortions

From abortionist Richard Grossman:

“The reason I perform abortions is because I’m a Christian…Personally, I believe in the strength, intellect and fortitude of women. When a woman says a fetus is a person, I think it is one. I believe the woman empowers the fetus.”

(Webmaster’s note: This doctor believes that a fetus does not become a person until the woman believes it is one. I can’t help but wonder if he would agree that a tumor is not cancer unless a woman believes it is.)

Abortion Is Part of a Woman’s Quest

“I often hear people say, ‘in a perfect world there would be no abortions.’ But in my perfect world, the world I am hoping to help create, I do not toss out abortion so hastily. We need a safe world for women, one in which we control our bodies, our sexuality, our reproduction. And if abortion is part of a woman’s quest, I would have the experience be painless, nurturing, free, safe, and without stigma. In my perfect world, each moment of our lives will be ones that encourage us to love our bodies and celebrate our power.”

Abortionists Are Kind and Loving

“And the people who do abortions are every bit as ethical and as kind and loving and godlike as those who think abortion is wrong. I say that with every conviction I have. Abortion clearly has improved women’s health, no matter how you look at it.”

Mildred Hanson, Abortionist, “Voices of Choice, Doctors Stories”
