3rd trimester abortion clinic worker: “We don’t care what your reasons are”

Dr. Warren Hern’s clinic in Boulder, Colorado does abortions all the way up until birth. A reporter who visited the clinic overheard a clinic worker talking on the phone with an abortion patient.

“Are you on any medication? Have you had surgery in the last year? No, we don’t have any genetics counselors to interpret that for you. We don’t get a lot of protesters. It’s a liberal and tolerant community. If that changes, we will contact you. No, you’ll get up and get in your car and drive home. And Lisa, if you have a change of heart, please call us–our schedule is completely full and you’ll be taking someone else’s place.

After another silence, a soft voice gets softer: I also want you to know, we don’t care what your reasons are. We’re not going to judge you.”

Abortion doctor: “Environment for abortions is ‘ominous’

A pro-choice feminist says cites an article:

“Robert Livingston, a retired doctor who used to perform illegal abortions in the 1960s, recently told a New Jersey newspaper that he “would be afraid” to work today.

“The atmosphere is so ominous now,” he said.

It is an atmosphere fueled by a strategic, steady stream of misinformation.”

Some abortion patients swear they will never have sex again

A reporter explained what clinic workers said about why they gave out information on birth control to patients coming in for abortions:

“Some women come out of the abortion experience swearing they’ll never have sex again, but usually they do, sooner or later.”

Linda Feldmann “Abortion: Uneasy Day at the Clinic” The Christian Science Monitor JANUARY 22, 1998

How bad must an abortion be if sexually active women come out of it swearing to never have sex again in their lives?

Clinic worker and patient talk about having an abortion

A reporter in an abortion clinic describes a conversation between a counselor and a patient waiting for her abortion:

“Are you sure about your decision?” Laura asked Angela, a tired-looking blonde in a blue, velvet tracksuit.

Angela laughed in a guarded way. “Pretty much,” she said. “We were sitting in the waiting room, going, ‘We can still go.’”

Laura looked concerned. “I want you to be 100 percent sure of your decision,” she said.

Angela nodded. “I’ve done it before.”

Abortion clinic worker complains about her job

A clinic worker complains about her workplace:

“Sometimes our employers tend so much to the “business” part of our business, that they forget the heart of it. They forget that without passion, without advocacy, without caring for more than the bottom line (and without having employees who do, to their core, have these qualities), they will have a very cold business. They will lose those who care the most: who are motivated by making a difference in women’s lives. Some of my friends are getting lied to by their bosses: being promised that they would always have a job/not get a paycut/not get laid-off/that they’re too valuable to ever lose; then all of the above happens. And employees who are rude to patients, rude to other employees, who suck the heart out of a clinic stay behind.”

Christian abortion clinic worker “nobody knows what God thinks”

From an article by a reporter who interviewed workers in an abortion clinic. One worker was a devout Christian. The article says:

“Though it might seem surprising to find a dedicated Christian working in an abortion clinic, considering that so much national debate seems to fall along religious lines, Tammy doesn’t mind the incongruity. “Nobody really knows what God thinks,” she said.

“If it wasn’t OK,” said Tammy. “I would never have felt like it was OK. If I wasn’t supposed to be here, I wouldn’t be.”

Abortion provider: abortion is needed as backup to contraception

Ann Furedi, the head of the BPAS, England’s largest abortion provider:

“In the real world, out of women who are using the pill well, about eight in every 100 will get pregnant in the course of a year… We need abortion as a backup to contraception.”

Abortionist: “Every time I do an abortion, I save a woman’s life”

One abortionist said:

Hillary can say anything she wants about whether an abortion is a tragedy. What I know when I perform an abortion for a patient is that the overwhelming feeling is one of relief. Because the abortion has solved a huge problem in her life, whether it’s because she couldn’t afford another child, couldn’t afford to be a good mother to another child, or doesn’t have the money to raise a child. Every time I do an abortion I save a woman’s life. If you want to call that a tragedy—I don’t consider it a tragedy, I’m sorry.

Ryan Lizza “The Abortion Capital of America” New York Magazine

Read about abortion’s actual psychological risks here. Women who have abortions have a 6-7 times higher suicide rate. (in teens that is 10x) They also have higher rates of substance abuse, depression, psychiatric hospitalizations, and anxiety.
