“Who are you trying to convince?”

Some authors have suggested that women who are troubled by their abortions often help convince other women to abort, reaffirming their decision through the other woman’s choice. This may be why an estimated 70% of those who work at abortion clinics have had a previous abortion.

One woman who had an abortion recounted that her friends tried to convince her that abortion was the best choice. She says:

“My girlfriends tried to guide me by sharing their stories of abortion. I didn’t say it out loud, but I thought to myself, “Who are you trying to convince that abortion is okay, me or you?”

Roe V. Wade did not “settle” abortion as New York Times thought

Once Roe V Wade was decided, many in the media and the public thought that the abortion question was settled forever. They underestimated the dedication of people who opposed abortion. Over 40 years later, although we have not overturned Roe V Wade, the pro-life movement is stronger than ever.

“The day after Roe V Wade was decided, the New York Times headline read, “Supreme Court settles abortion.” It has remained the most unsettled issue on our national landscape.”

Frank Pavone “No Truce on Abortion” Washington Times, October 13, 2010

Among the reasons why the pro-life movement remains so strong is the facts about fetal development and the graphic pictures of what abortion does to preborn babies. These things sway more people over to the pro-life side

Woman who regrets her abortion attends pro-abortion demonstration

A woman who regretted her abortion went to a pro-choice demonstration holding a sign saying “I regret choosing abortion.” She describes being ignored by the pro-abortion demonstrators

In January 2002, when NOW and Planned Parenthood held their annual candlelight vigil for “choice” on the Supreme Court steps, Ms. Forney stood quietly on the sidelines with a sign that said, “I regret choosing abortion.”

“It was almost an experiment to see who would express compassion. One woman said to me, ‘I’m sorry you feel that way.’ But no one else in that crowd offered me a hand. No one cared to reach out to me one iota. I knew in that moment that these people did not care about women’s rights. They cared about abortion rights.”

Gynecologist on abortion and women

Professor Peter Huntingford, pro-abortion gynecologist

“No woman knows whether she wants an abortion until she has had one.”

Peter Huntingford Birth Right: The Parents’ Choice (BBC Publications, 1985)  Quoted in Mary Kenny Abortion: The Whole Story (London: Quartet Books, 1986) 10

One wonders how this gynecologist counsels women who come to him for abortions.

Abortions took place 16 hours a day, every day in clinic

Former abortionist Dr. Bernard Nathanson talks about the grisly efficiency with which abortions were done in the abortion clinic where he worked:

“From 8 in the morning until midnight, 7 days a week, doctors working in 10 operating rooms performed vacuum aspirations on an endless parade of pregnant wombs. In the peak months more than 3,000….Doctors regularly worked 12-hour shifts.”

NOW comments on shut down abortion clinic

Cheryl Sabel, President, Montgomery chapter of the National Organization for Women, about a clinic that was shut down due to filthy conditions

“Every time a women’s health clinic closes, it is a huge blow for women and it’s very unfortunate. But women must be protected, and there are standards — as there are for every health care facility — and every facility needs to abide by the rules.”

Architect creates “cheerful” environment in abortion clinic

Author William Brennan describes how one abortion clinic was designed:

“An architect’s report on a modern abortion clinic interior emphasizes the significance of using plants and bright colors for creating a “cheerful and anxiety-free environment.”

From the article by Herbert McLaughlin “Clinic Design Emphasizes Restraint to Minimize Patients’ Tension” Modern Hospital September 1973, p 74-75

William Brennan The Abortion Holocaust: Today’s Final Solution (St. Louis, Missouri, 1983) 39

No matter how “cheerful” an environment the clinic administrators try to create, what is going on behind closed doors in abortion clinics is the killing of babies like the one below.

Couples come in for abortion, often don’t use contraception

From the book Pregnancy and Abortion Counseling, which trains clinic workers and offers examples of patients. This clinic offers birth control in addition to abortions. But they find that many women who come in for abortions were not using birth control:

“There are many couples who do not want a pregnancy, yet still have sex without using any contraception. Frequently women only come to the doctor or clinic for the first time when they are already pregnant or think they are. Approximately 25% of first medical appointments at the Brandon Centre are for a pregnancy test.”
