“It is an honorable and noble endeavor to protect the life of every fetus. It is misguided. Either society views women, as a whole, as honest, trustworthy and respected enough to determine their own destiny, or we decide that women are an ignorant, manipulative and irresponsible second-class of citizens who need to be controlled. You cannot have it both ways; control the weak while respecting the responsible.”

That adds up to some heavy-duty victim blaming toward the mothers who lose the fight to keep their children. It sounds like, “This is the destiny YOU determined–because surely you wouldn’t be ignorant, manipulative, and irresponsible enough to blame all the wonderful people who put you in that position in the first place. Have fun with the trauma you totally brought on yourself.” 🙁
That’s very true. Often, those on the pro-choice side blame women who regret their abortions for their own trauma, telling them that they were mentally ill beforehand, or that they are pawns of the pro-life movement, or that they are simply irrational. it is very important that pro-lifers acknowledge the pain these women are in, and offer them a safe, nonjudgmental environment where they can heal.
