National Abortion Federation Sacrifices Women’s Health on RU-486 Abortions

Unfortunately, abortion right’s groups have opposed guidelines that would increase the safety of RU-486 abortions. For example, an article from Newswire covered the National Abortion Federation’s press conference on the new abortion method.

Executive director of NAF Vicki Saporta says that doctors should receive training before providing RU-486 abortions but goes on to say plainly:

“While training is important, a third party certification of such training should not be an FDA requirement.”

So therefore, although training should be done, there should be no legal way to restrict untrained doctors from providing these abortions.

Nurse
A Tough Choice To Swallow : Part two: 6-8-2006

“If a patient is sent out the door with their pills, then there might not be any follow-up. It has been known for patients to go back and have to ask for counseling afterwards. And of course it will not occur to some people to do that, and it can be very damaging psychologically. It’s a horrible thing to go through.”
