    Gays Rights Statement
Many Christian people oppose gay's right to marry and adopt children. They believe that gay relationships are sinful. They base this belief on a handful of passages scattered throughout the bible.

Most Christians would be horrified if our nation passed a law saying that all citizens must abstain from pork, most visit a synagogue, or must bow to Mecca. These laws are wrong because they force non-Muslims or non-Jews to abide by Muslim or Jewish teachings. Members of one religion would be forcing members of another religion to act as they do. When fundamentalist Christians oppose gay rights, they are doing the same thing. It should also be noted that many Christians do feel that gay relationships are morally acceptable, and that laws restricting gay rights are examples of a very small minority, fundamentalist Christians, imposing their beliefs on the majority who do not share their views.

Christians who oppose gay rights believe that they have the right to force their religious beliefs on to others. The United States, however, was founded on the principles of religious freedom.

The only arguments against gay marriage or other issues are religious ones. There is not one single negative consequence to allowing gay marriage outside of violating a religious taboo. Gay marriage does not hurt the economy. It does not endanger people's lives. It does not prevent heterosexual people from living their lives to the fullest.

Gay marriage does not damage society. Two of the most successful Western societies of all time (the Greeks and the Romans) supported gay relationships and lasted far longer than the United States or indeed many European countries. These two societies produced philosophy, art, and inventions that are rightly prized today.

Opposition to gay relationships is a strictly Christian and Muslim trait. You will find no teachings against homosexuality in Eastern religions.

I oppose abortion because science teaches that an individual life starts at conception. Because logic teaches that a baby two minutes after it is born is no more human than a baby two minutes before it is born. That birth is only a transition, not a beginning, for an organism.

The most convincing arguments against abortion are not religious ones.

In contrast THE ONLY arguments against gay marriage are religious ones.

Opposing gay marriage and other rights for gays is a form of bigotry. It is wrong, plain and simple.
